Whats the big deal on heavies? Why does everyone get all excited over this specific playlist? Just about every time i play BTB and heavies comes up, it gets like 6 votes the instant it pops up. I personally hate this game type and its maps. I know many others that do also. To me, its not very fun because you can’t take a falcon without being shot down 5 seconds after you take off. Also the maps are very cluttered with structures which make it hard to maneuver with the tank making it easy to hijack. Maybe if the maps were more wide open if would be fun? I remember and liked it when BTB was filled with mainly CTF, Assault, and straight up fun slayer. I am very hesitant to even pick BTB anymore because of heavies. Does anyone else feel negative about heavies like i do? Would anyone else like 343 to eliminate heavies from BTB? Possibly make it’s own playlist of some sort? And can some please expain why there are quite a few people that actually like this game type?
Considering you keep saying how much it gets chosen, people like it, you don’t, it won’t be going anywhere.
I have to admit, I am not an avid fan of this gametype and stay out of BTB just because of it.
I find that more people camp power weapons and are a lot more willing to kill you for it.
The sheer numbers of vehicles almost makes any gun besides a power weapon feel useless.
That’s what i don’t understand either man, people vote for that like crazy! It was honestly fun the first 5 times, but it’s just too crazy, i miss having a whole army of spartans run around with similar weapons and have an all out war, not tanks and every single power weapons in just about every spartan’s hand -_-
At least remove Asphalt. I hate that map.
Heavies is hella fun and has been the only reason I bother with BTB.
I like because I rarely get betrayed in heavies. It is about the only gametype where I don’t get betrayed for a power weapon. BTB also feel a bit less empty to me with the added clutter.
Heavies was in Halo 3’s BTB and was amazing! Heavies is in Reach’s BTB and is also amazing! who doesn’t love dozens of vehicles, fast paced combat, variety, and lots of explosions with lots of players?
Hm, I think I would like it A LOT more if their were more maps?
> Heavies is hella fun and has been the only reason I bother with BTB.
I would be more inclined to play Heavies if loadouts had different guns. Like invasion.
Sprint - DMR, Pistol
Armor Lock - Grenade Launcher, Shotgun
Jet Pack - Assault Rifle, Pistol
My biggest concern is that once one team takes out the others vehicles there is little that can be done.
The Tank decimates almost everything and if you don’t have control of a laser its very hard to take down. Team DMRing only works well on Ghosts and Warthogs. Other wise your putting multiple clips from multiple users on one vehicle. Its just not effective. Even the Sniper can take 4+ shots on a tank without destroying it, by the time you put 2 in the tank already knows your location.
They really mean “brace for carnage” when the game is heavies. I love the action and shear firepower being ripped off. I die a lot and kill a lot and its damn fun. It also prevents dmr duels which I hate and suck at.
KILL IT WITH FIRE!
That, or add objective variants to heavies, I get REALLY sick of BTB Heavies Slayer over and over again.
Personally, I love it!
But even an awesome thing can be improved. More maps and even objective gametypes would be great!
POPULAR GAMETYPES should NEVER be removed ever. BTB Heavies is what makes BTB so popular, the playlist even sometimes tops Team Slayers in population. BTB Heavies is the greatest thing that ever happen to the playlist.

In summary this ^
In explanation, you move faster (movement is set to 110%) so the game feels like it moves faster. You get to play with vehicles. Wraiths, Scorpions, and Hogs Oh my! Vehicles that can actually kill guys are awesome and there are plenty of those in this gametype.
There are heavy weapons EVERYWHERE. In Reach, for some strange reason, there is a distinct paucity of the heavy weapons that were a staple of every other Halo game. Many Team Slayer boards have zero heavy weapons and some of the default BTB maps have only one or two. (Think Hemorrhage with its exactly one Blueberry shooter.) Heavies allows us to actually use some of the heavy weapons to get kills.
So that’s my reasons for loving Heavies. My opinion is that most people think the same way as I do.
Clearly people love these maps because they love massive fire power at their fingertips. That does, however, leave some to lose out in the ability to form BTB style strategies, because their team mates are more interested in tanks and gauss hogs than in winning.
Not all the Heavies maps are crazy, although some (asphalt, cragmire) are utterly random and chaotic.
Although I’d like to see some of the maps remain (especially Rasu), I think the BTB game type is rather pointless. I’d much rather see normal BTB games on some of the maps.

I don’t even consider this heavies compared to Halo 3 Heavies. I just see it as BTB Cluster -Yoink-.
Everyone who likes it, including me, like it because it re-introduces that random aspect of gameplay.
The increased movement speed greatly improves overall map flow and the crazy amount of vehicles and power weapons is what makes them fun, you never know when you are gonna be blasted away, or when you get a triple kill laser!
Honestly it should be its own playlist because its gameplay is so different form TU and Vanilla, its very fun.
