Normally this isn’t an issue when I solo queue, however; whenever i have a fireteam of 6-8 people for BTB I run into this problem:
- Game looks for other players
- Screen freezes when players are found
- Half the fireteam is kicked (1-4 people consistently)
- Game starts
- Screen unfreezes for those who didn’t join and they have to JIP
(we search on expanded since it’s the only way to find a game and not wait 15 min)
I should mention this happens when I am in a fire team of 2-4, but usually only once every 10 games or so.
Not sure if anyone else is having this issue or if you guys know how to definitively resolve this, but help would be appreciated.
I know there are a ton of issues like this in the MCC, however, I was unaware of this in Halo 5. Granted I’m mainly a solo queue guy.
You should probably bring this up in the support forums under Halo 5.

I’m mainly a solo queue guy. However, I had no problem matching last night when I was with the company I’m in, and we had a full fireteam.
I believe 343 adjusted something so that people in games together match against people in games together. It may still be buggy especially if it can’t find anyone else playing together.
It’s been like this for the last year or 2, sadly it’s never been fixed. Last night was having same problem, it happens sometimes but not much else we can do till 343i sort their servers out.

I believe those are two different issues. The party restrictions don’t have anything to do with lagging out. If they can’t find another party the search parameters are just opened up to more non parties.
I hate to say it, since I have been disputing this for a while now, but maybe it is the issue of someone in the party having the Voices of War pack on. I don’t have definitive proof, but since I have turned mine off I have no longer been stuck in a loading screen. I will do further self testing, and turn it back on today and see what happens. How about trying to ask your BTB group to do the same next time and see how it goes.

That’s interesting, I don’t know why the VOW pack would do that but I suppose there could be a connection (pun intended).

The VoW pack doesnt appear to have any connection to how often we lag out or find games. I know this because i have a grinding buddy who always has the VoW turned on and experiences no different issues than myself, whom doesnt have the VoW pack.
A simple hard reboot on your console and / or restarting your internet router does the trick. Works for me.

Ill try this next time, though restarting the router isnt going to happen since i share the internet.

This also happens if someone in your fireteam has a moderate or strict NAT.

NAT doesn’t matter in Halo 5 as it uses dedicated servers. NAT matters when it’s peer to peer. This said, try and have an open NAT anyways as it’ll make life easier.

Actually is matters a lot in teams and parties.

In party chat yes your right. My mistake there, I should have been more precise in what I was saying… but as far as actually connecting no, NAT doesn’t matter when everyone is connecting to a dedicated server.
If you want I can get technical and try to explain it all but I’ve had this conversation so many times and sorta tired of explaining it to be honest lol as every time it ends up being the same result… so I will just say, read up on how dedicated servers work and how peer to peer works. This isn’t directed at anyone in particular by the way just saying in general.
I’ll let Google explain it, all the information you need is right there. Have a nice day everyone

As far as I have been able to deduce from the limited info available, The dedicated servers work for the req system and actual game matching but not for fireteams and chat. If this is true then Nat would become an issue when connecting to fireteams as well as chat party.
