20minutes + overtime of camping at either base, no one picked a flag up…
was just stupid, why dont we just pull CTF from that map, seens as though everyone just plays slayer on it anyways? I love ragnarok, but cmon, CTF on it takes too long, and becomes ‘what player will get 50 kills first’
I just played it and had a total ball! That map brings back so many fond memories of Halo 3. I even managed to get a hog stuck in the lift and splatter myself! I love it.

Well i just want to point out that this map is based more on Valhalla then Ragnarok. While they are the same map, Ragnarok was slightly different to work in the Halo 4 sandbox.
Anyway, this map is a must for CTF and has been a fan favourte for BTB CTF since Halo 3. The situation you just mentioned was the teams fault, not the maps. Maybe if both sides didn’t have nothing but idiots someone might of actually got the flag.
CTF in Halo 5 is the worst incarnation yet. Too easy to play Defence and too hard to play offense so it always just devolves into either a game of Slayer or no one on either team moves. It doesn’t matter what map it’s on. CTF is just bad. And that’s coming from someone who historically has loved CTF in every game.
The combination of reduced flag carrier leathality, decreased kill times, and basically instant flag return time makes it so the individual can’t shine. That might sound good at first, but it it results in it being impossible for solo players to contribute, and in BTB, one of only two consistently social playlists in the game, if there is a gametype that fundmentaly doesn’t allow for solo players to contribute it is broken. That is where solo players are supposed to go. If a solo player can’t play in BTB then where else are they supposed to go?
BTB CTF needs to become it’s own thing. Set flag return times (similar to Halo 4), 1-hit flag melees, and the ability to score without your flag at home all need to happen for CTF to become fun in BTB again. I understand that CTF in 4v4 is supposed to be a super competitive game, but just strait up placing that into BTB doesn’t work. Fast return timers work in small scale because the actual time it takes to get across the map with the flag is a lot less. By dragging out the distance, and therefore time it takes, to capture the flag while keeping return timers the same makes Defence in BTB much easier to play. Set timers would do this, and reward agressive play. 1-hit beat down would do the same thing, and allow a single player to make plays.
This change would only have to happen in BTB CTF. It is already it’s own thing, and I don’t see how making it a more approachable and enjoyable solo experience is a bad thing.

I’m still angered that the name is Halvalla. I understand what the creator was going for but just call it Valhalla or change the name to something else related to the Nordic gods and mythology. Like call it Odin or something.
And for the actual topic at hand, some CTF games are like that. It’s sad when no one plays the game but there’s nothing we can do. Now there are also times were everyone is playing the game properly, they are just putting to much effort into defending the flag. Usually three-four guys sitting back at base or in the area is good enough for defense.

In both Halo 3 and Halo 4 a single player was able to rush base, grab the flag, and set his team up for success. Because of the kill times, fast flag return, and decreased flag leathality an individual player can’t do this anymore and that results in a much more defensive game. Halo 3 and 4 had long return timers, so a solo player could set his team up for success by running in, grabbing flag, and getting the flag out. They can’t do that in Halo 5.

and thanks for the nerdy ‘look mom, this guy wrote ragnarok instead of valhalla, whatta noob’ comments.
Check stats, i played halo 3. i referred to halo 4s ragnarok simply because it was more recent. So most members would know what i meant, -Yoink- heads.

Wrong, i just had a match were not once, but twice i got the flag by myself, went over the man cannon and got it to my teams side of the map without any help. Not trying to sound big headed or anything but its still possible, why? The man cannon and the fact you can now thrust to go abit further PLUS the fact flag juggling is back and again the thrust helps alot here. Everything you just said is STILL in Halo 5 so don’t give me that crap. He/she just needs tp accept the fact that both teams were crap and don’t understand how to play CTF.
