Could they return? And does anyone know if the Brutes serve for Jul?
I remember reading somewhere that the remaining Brutes make up a different sect of self-proclaimed “New Covenant”, and that they have been attempting to commit genocide against the elites. Not sure if it’s true or just speculation, but it makes sense. I doubt the Brutes would ever work for Jul because he’s an Elite and the Brutes hate Elites.
Honestly, I think the Brutes have been demonized enough. I actually want to have allied Brutes fight alongside the Arbiter’s Swords of Sanghelios. Maybe Lydus from Halo: Escalation will be a minor protagonist similar to Rtas 'Vadum. Of course, I’m not against having Brute enemies as well. I just want them to be characterized better.
I was fine with the introduction of brutes, I’d much rather have them in the game than prometheans.

What’s with the universal hate for the prometheans? They were the best enemies of halo 4 IMO it wasn’t the same old covenant we had been fighting for 10+ years.
The brutes have to come back though halo 2 brutes not the jokes that were the halo 3 variant.

I assume it’s because they lack personality.
Back when I first played Halo: CE, one of the first things I noticed was how unique and fun the Covenant was handled compared to other games I had played at the time and past. They had life, and character. They didn’t just come at you in a one track mind of death. There is something charming and fun about fighting an enemy that talks (taunts you, cries out in fear, etc), takes cover, runs away, or just feels more “organic”.
And yes, I realize the Prometheans don’t just run at you like mindless enemies, but they have no life to them. They’re just these nasty robotic-like creatures and for me at least, all I thought of when I encountered them was “ugh… lets get this over with.”
Also, with the Prometheans, I never get a sense of “revenge” when it comes to fighting them. With the Covenant, you know what they’ve done and fighting them and taking them out gives you a sense of “Ha, take that.” Whereas the Prometheans seem like mindless husks fighting because they’ve been programmed to, so taking them out doesn’t give any sense of revenge because they don’t give off a sense that they think or feel anything.
If others like them, that’s fine, just saying it’s a lot more fun to fight the organic alien species.
I don’t mind either way, but I do agree, more character development.

The same old covenant is way better than the prometheans which were uninteresting and way too easy and just bad all around.
I say no to brutes, but bring on the Flood.

I can totally see why you feel like that. What a well thought out and articulate post. I just personally think they offer more from a gameplay perspective then the covenant.
How do people feel about playing as a Brute? Thoughts?

I disagree the only enemy type in the covenant army that was a “challenge” were the jackal snipers for years. I find shooting through waves of grunts taking a plasma pistol and noob comboing the elites a lot more mind numbing then a enemy that teleports around the map deploys support allies that can spawn more enemies that can traverse the walls or just rush you, or revive fallen ones with an interesting arsenal of transforming guns that disintegrate bodies. But maybe it’s just me. ( evidently it’s just me)

Because Prometheans were bullet sponges that added little to the game at all. Their “teleport” was just a fancy dodge roll, and I got melted by them, maybe once in my 3 play throughs. They were awful to fight against.
