There has been far too much time and effort invested in designing the brutes, their equipment, and their culture, for 343i to just disregard them in Halo 4. While Brutes aren’t exactly among the most favoured Covenant species, with some of us outright hating them, they’re still now an important part of Halo and their weaponry is quite useful.
I think it is indeed possible for them to appear, and doing so may not effect canon. Think about it, I don’t see why this new Covenant group would not accept Brutes, though Elites (who will likely be in charge) hate the Brutes, I don’t see why they would continue fighting with them considering the fact that some of them share the same goal. If they’ve already turned on humanity after formerly allying with them, what makes you think they won’t ally with the Brutes again? Having them join-up would represent a complete Covenant.
Besides, like I said in the above, think of the weapons/vehicles that we would lose if the Brutes were omitted. Of all of the Covenant, it seems Brutes are among the few who are able to keep remnants of their culture. Brute weaponry alludes to the traditional “savagery” and “brutality” of their own culture. While the rest Covenant is designed after fancy spectrums of colours, utilizes plasma as ammunition, and is aesthetically sleek and refined. Brute weaponry retains vicious metallic spikes, blades, greyness, and most of them do not use plasma. Tell me, how would we play unique gametypes like Grifball without a Gravity hammer?
TL;DR version: I think that the Brutes should return in Halo 4, as they are an important part of the Halo universe. What do you personally think?
In all honesty, It would not bother me if they didn’t return. I really didn’t like fighting them as much as I did elites. They just seemed like oversized apes to me. While Im glad the main focus isn’t fighting the covenant, mainly because it gets tiring, but Im glad to see we can fight elites again. Even if they are rouge elites or separatists elites.
It reminds me of Halo CE and I do recall 343i saying Halo 4, at least in the beginning will resemble Halo CE before taking us on a brand new journey.
I guarantee you they will. They’re lost. Have nothing left, nothing to do. I would be surprised if whatever snake is leading the covenant can’t easily recruit the Jiralhalnea.
> I doubt we will see them if they aren’t already in. The game goes gold in 6 weeks.
Yeah, this kind of worries me because we haven’t seen Brutes in either campaign or Spartan Ops. Brutes aren’t my favourite members of the Covenant, in fact I still think they have yet to be perfected and deserve an overhaul, but I think 343i could be the ones to do that and I recognize their important status within the universe.
if not having them be back in the game at least put there weapons, 343 could even say the elites took the weapons from them so they were no longer a threat. I really missed the brute shot in Reach
I wouldn’t mind if they didn’t return. 343 has said that Grifball will be more or less playable, so that might mean we won’t have the Gravity Hammer, but perhaps an equivalent.
I just like brutes because they were 5 times as easy to beat then elites. going back and playing H3, they were pathetic compared to the elites in Reach
H2: true Brutes
H3: wannabe Elites with power armor
Reach: Covie equivalents of Storm Troopers (incompetent mooks). Their danger (speed, berserk, accuracy, rof) has been copy pasted to the Elites and they are indeed a shell of their former selves.
It’s kinda pointless giving them savage weapons if they’re never savage with them.
Maybe they will return later in the series? I personally hate the brutes, but I love their weaponry and the Chopper is probably my favorite Halo vehicle. I think if they do bring them back they need to be beefed up and very savage and aggressive. In First Strike they are depicted as unstoppable insanely strong savage beasts. In the games they are dummies. I hope they return, but I want them to make me -Yoink- my pants when I encounter them.
if I’m right, and the Covenant is actually the Covenant, but is actually the Servants of the Abiding Truth, then Brutes will be in the game.
Brutes should be in Halo 4. but make them like Reach’s, but with much tougher health and berserk like Halo 3’s. I also want Drones (no Skirmishers!).
but I’m more concern if Sentinels will be in Halo 4. every Shield World/Forerunner Installation has Sentinels; it only makes logical sense that they’re in.
They will return. I doubt 343i would be that foolish and remove them.
They have been in every Halo game and are a main part of Halo games now. Plus, their weapons, vehicles and equipment are unique and awesome also. Brutes were probably my favourite enemy to fight in Halo 3. It was just so fun and challenging defeating the Brute Chieftain.
I feel like 343 is going to keep the Brutes in their pockets for 5 or 6.
Think about how nicely the Brutes expand the sandbox. You get a,
*Primary: Spiker
*Secondary: Mauler
*Grenade(Spiker/Firebomb)
*Mid Tier: Brute Shot
*Power Weapon: Gravity Hammer
*Vehicle: Brute Chopper(Maybe two? Prowler?)
Its doubtful they will show up in Halo 4 but I would be shocked if they didn’t show up in 5 or 6.
