Brutes got more love in H2

There was a gametype called Brute assault in Team Carnage and another called Team Brutes in BTB Slayer

Link to my H2 stats to show they aren’t custom games, which are reffered to as “arranged games”

So, my question is why did Bungie put less and less emphasis on Brutes even though the fanbase is expanding? And are 343i going to do the same?

Maybe they wanted Halo 3 play lists and game types to be more organized and less cluttered?

Well I wouldn’t say less emphasis… After all in H3 Brutes had power armor, ranks, shields, brute shots, spikers, maulers, grav hammers, choppers and prowlers. In H2 they had poor armor and just bruteshots and brute PRs.

It’s a shame there weren’t more Brute oriented playlists in H3 though…

And in Halo Reach all of that was taken away. Then special playlists in MM were added for Elites, such as SvE and Invasion!

They tried adding brutes in MM in Halo 3 but it didn’t work out that well and in Reach they just didn’t play a big enough role to be added into MM. I might as well add that I didn’t like the brutes in reach. I mean where did all their hair go?

Maybe they realized that Brutes are just large monkeys and no matter how hard you try you can’t make a monkey intimidating.

King Kong would like a word.

I watch that movie and I don’t feel intimidated. I feel sad. It’s just a love story with a sad ending :frowning:

Monkey just liked the ladies.

LMAO

The reason it didn’t work out well in H3 was because of the hitboxes. However, in Reach Bungie accepted the fact that you don’t need the same hitbox for different species and that is why Elites are much bigger. Because of this, Brutes could have been added as well. The “preferred species” option would make a whole lot more sense then. I remember seeing the picture of that before release and all the speculation.

I’m hoping in H4 we’ll be able to play as more than just Spartans and Elites. ODSTs need to be playable again and we should be able to play as Brutes. Imagine what invasion could be like! And even if they are limted to custom games, it would still be a lot of fun.
