Yes or no? Maybe we could have some Brute weaponry return as well? Post your thoughts!
I am fully in support of them bringing Brutes back. Because if they do, maybe they’ll wise up and fix the Elite AI so it doesn’t act exactly like Halo 3 Brutes do, and acts more intelligently, and agilely.
I would say no. The Brutes and Elites hate each other. The Great Schism and the later final betrayal on Sanghelios cemented their hatred for each other. These two races would be fighting each other until at least 2559.
And for me, I want the Covenant gone. They had way too much screen time in Halo 4 as it is. They need to be pushed aside to allow Prometheans to take the spot light an allow the return of the Flood and Precursors.
That’s me, though.

Maybe the brutes would be working separately from the elites? Or maybe certain circumstances would force them to fight together whether they like it or not to bring down a common enemy.

Jiralhanae could theoretically show up as a part of the Covenant Loyalists that stayed loyal to the San’Shyuum (which is my theory as to why they are in Spartan Assault). However, I could never see them allying with Sangheili again. Some were given a second chance already, and they decided to set up an bomb in a public square on Sanghelios. And again, since, the two species have been at war (minus, of course, Jul 'Mdama’s Covenant)
Besides all that, Jul has the Didact and Prometheans on his side.

Maybe we could fight brutes that aren’t with the covenant at all? I’m sure that there’s brutes that are mercenaries and no brute would pass up a chance to kill the Master Chief.

That could work. There were dozens of Brutes and other Covenant client species on the human insurrectionist world of Venezia in the Kilo-5 books.
Yes, i would love for the brutes to come back. But not those weak ones. When they die easy on halo 3 and reach. I want them as they first started in the first game we met them. In halo 2, they were these crazy raging monsters that attacked you if you killed their partners. I want those brutes back. And i want to see them take over the covenant again and the Elites come back on your side. Like Thel Vadam(Arbiter) and them… Just the way it was supposed to be. I want to see a comeback of Gold elites fighting brutes with energy swords. Remember in Halo 2 when they had these battles with Hunters, Grunts, and Elites were killing Brutes, Jackals, and Buggins??? That should come back. Or maybe some elites stay on the covenant and don’t care about the brutes joining them while the other elites that follow Arbyand shipmaster join the UNSC and fight the Covie elites and brutes. But how will we tell from Covie elites to the Rebel Elites? Well maybe the covies wear normal covie armor and the Rebel elites wear the heretic armor the Heretics had on in halo 2.
I’d like to see Brutes come back, but they would need to utilize their true purpose as close-quarter beasts while also filling that void left by the Flood. They should not come back again as Elites 2.0.
Yes Brutes are awesome!
Can we just stop fighting the covenant already? Jesus.
If you want to fight brutes go play halo 2-ODST. I don’t understand how you people complain about fighting the covenant but at the same time ask for it. This is exactly what is going with halo 4 in general.
Begs Bungie for something
Bungie says “its impossible” or they won’t do it
343I does exactly what people were asking bungie to do
This game sucks i didn’t ask for this “bungie…”
I’d like more concentration put on the UNSC, Storm and Prometheans.
The UNSC finally has more than just Marines of various skins with the addition of Spartan IVs. Perhaps they could add Heavies with Machine guns or Hell bringers to make fighting with the UNSC more fun. If we got to fight along side Elites that’d be even better.
I still want the theory that the Storm’s troops have been augmented to take effect. So if we have alien allies they will be distinguishable. It’d be cool if the Storm Elites had that rage mode side effect that the SIIIGs had but stronger making them more monster than warrior to point where we don’t feel any guilt about killing our old mates and making them seem like true bad guys while the Elites on our side are the classic ones that are agile and smart and of course playable.
More Prometheans and making the current ones smarter is obviously going to happen hopefully along with new vehicles.
Brutes are great but i want Elites and Prometheans improved a lot before it’s even considered.
I would like to see the covenant species branch off and have different factions of covenant, like in Halo 2 when the grunts, elites and hunters worked together for that short time. I really want to see the arbiter again, and a brute as the new “Prophet”.
A brute as a prophet?! Brutes aren’t smart enough for that, and even though jul’s covenant is still religious, they wouldn’t let themselves be lead again by another prophet. Besides, it is said in the books that Jul doesn’t really believe the forerunners are gods, he just pretends to gain support from me members of the old covenanat who still do.
I’m surprised so many people said yes. Adding brutes back in, which are not members of the storm covenant, might add unnecessary complications to the plot. There would have to be some weird sub plot getting them back into working in the covenant with elites, their sworn enemy.
No, I’d rather they end the Hostile Covenants arc in Halo 5, adding Brutes would complicate it, now the weapons could return and I hope they do
Maybe, but the new enemy should be the main focus.
Im thinking how the brutes will come play a factor is the common fear of the flood.
If the flood returns in Halo 5, everyone from all sides of the conflict will want to preserve themselves and thus possibly forming alliances to combat the flood and also possibly finding religious affiliation because of the flood for what ever reason.

(This post isn’t directed to you, TheSpiritForce)
And then you realize how much Bungie messed up on the reality of civilization. Obviously if brutes were able to build space rockets, radios, and nuclear technology before becoming part of the Covenant, they can’t lead a religious military.
I would want an “Elite Ops” or maybe just a section of the campaign where your the Arbiter or an elite and your quelling the remaining Brute rebels.
