Brute v Anders (Chasms)

So I’m trying to better myself (as always), but I’m at a bit of a loss. My usual strat is early Brutes into Banshee spam. I usually win, but there are a few people who have beaten me. I recently lost against SangreAzteca who was playing Anders and went for a reactor 2nd. I saw that and decided to delay getting my hook so that I could just mass Brutes inside my base and release them when the Hogs came. I managed to destroy most of the Hogs, but he got a pad to red bar (later killed it) and forced a turret. I feel like that was a big part of the game. That 250 supplies plus the fact that I delayed getting my hook really delayed my Citadel. I was able to start double pumping banshees, but I couldn’t keep his tech 3 down because he put up a turret and trained Spartans, positioning them next to his reactor while taking my hook with flamers. By this point, my Brute had been D bombed and killed and all I had were Banshees which aren’t good for clearing enemy hooks. I kept going for a bit but he was able to get Wolves and it was over.

I think my strat can work, but it needs to be tweaked a bit. Instead of getting Citadel, maybe I should have gotten Inheritance so that my leader would survive the D bomb. Instead of waiting for Citadel to pump banshees, maybe I should go summit 5th. Does that sound like a good idea? I’m just looking for advice from high-level players here.

Update: I played another good Anders player, EliteGamer, who is pretty decent but has never beaten me before. Against my summit 5th build, he managed pretty well and I was struggling to get his Hogs off my base. The Brutes will initially push them off, but if the player is worth their salt they’ll come back again. Hogs cost just as much as Brutes but build faster so the Brutes don’t work on defense as well as I thought. I did manage to win once I got Banshee numbers, but I can’t help but think that if he had managed to keep the summit down that things would have transpired differently.

So the next game I went Temple 2nd, no Brutes, turret, then double factory on my Citadel. It worked much better. Is that the best way to play against a good UNSC on this specific map?

Turret front, just build wraiths and hold your hook.

if you want to go banshees, you force hogs to be out. But you will need to be able to hold the hook if you want to outproduce his hogs. Wraiths fair much better than banshees however you will need to be really aggressive with them as if he produces too much tanks he will eventually beat your wraiths. It’s all your preference really, it’s up to you wheither you would prefer to face up against hogs or tanks. There is no right or wrong with playing the brute. Hope this helps, I haven’t played in awhile.

I actually played Aztec again and tried the Temple 2nd into double Factory. When he saw I was going wraiths, he went double barracks and took my hook. While I took it back, he got Fortress and I decided to push so that he couldn’t get up tanks. Unfortunately, he pushed me off and it was pretty much over after that. It turns out he also even got an expo. I was really surprised by that, as I hadn’t heard an explosion. I guess I just should’ve been paying more attention. That said, wraiths do seem to do much better than banshees.

Chasms, I think I use to run a jackal/wraith run. You need to scout where his flamers/marines grab and fight him yhere. Jackals with light vortex into wraith micro. I’d ignore banshees, wraiths will do you much better.

I played SoM3 R4Nd0M NuB (a 1v1 expert, this map is chasms) and he destroyed me by going temple, warehouse then factory (I was forge and he was prophet). I didn’t know what to do. Wraiths early game are very effective.

He told me about that build before I heard you talk about it. Apparently, he delays his next warehouse in order to build a Wraith ASAP. I remember telling you to go reactor first, but that build is impossible with Forge. So I’d suggest going Anders, go reactor first, and keep the factory down. It will screw your eco, but his build does the same thing. Meanwhile, get up Spartan and Flamers. They’ll fend off the Prophet and Wraiths if he manages to get any up later on. That’s how I would try to counter it anyway.

No offense but, when you are bad your opponent could virtually do any build and demolish you that is all. P.S. Lousyness is Lousyness. dont listen to anything that guy says.

Isn’t he like a 45 TS in the old halo wars? He isn’t a bad player in the slightest.

It’s not that I’m bad, it’s that Aztec is a super good Anders player. He told me that I was “decent” afterwards. I’m just looking for tips here.

Also, what’s wrong with Louslyness? He’s a great Covie player as far as I know.
