Okay, so this thread is not meant to change Halo 5 (which it wont since the game is probably done and is currently just being tested for bugs), it is meant to just see the waypoint communities preference on Brutes. It also does not assume Brutes will be in Halo 5 Guardians. Personally, I would like to see a mix. So this thread when it talks about brute style I mean a couple of things:
armour types (included in all of the ranks)
their art form (body art, hair styles, etc)
The AI (ex. berserking, movement, pack interaction etc)
I included 2 Halo 2 entries, one including the berserking and the other not including. I find that Halo 2 has two style of brutes in one. They differ in the way they fight as elites and then when they berserk they become these crazy ninja monkeys. Additionally, after H2 we do not see this type of berserking again. Hence, I included an entry without berserking.
Remember Halo reach has lower ranked unarmoured brutes (with maybe a helmet), captain armoured (not power armoured) brutes, and high ranked chieftains (with a shield and hammer or fuel air rod).
Halo 3 had the generic power armoured brutes with the exception of the chieftains that had shields.
Finally, I know we did not fight brutes in Halo wars in a FPS sense, but damn were those chieftains in the cutscenes so amazing. They really looked like chieftains. I like their artwork in Halo wars a lot.
I think the Brutes, in the Halo games they featured in, have the most diversity. Yes elites had their visual differences but I find the brutes have changed the most dramatically across Halo 2, 3, and Reach. If they are in Halo 5, which would you prefer? Feel free to discuss as well!

I didn’t think you could edit polls once created?

Only if it was immediately identifiable. My brain has developed to the point where when I see a group of Covies I instantly formulate a battle plan and start attacking, if some Brutes have armor and some don’t it would make that more difficult.
If anything, a mix. Some of them with no/very little armour, like 2 or Reach, and a few elite individuals with power armour. Makes sense since they didn’t really have much of their own tech, and the little they retain from their time in the covenant would be withheld for high-ranking chieftains and such. I’d like to see berserking as well. Helps set them apart from Elites.
Just please, no invincibility. That was such bull-Yoink!-.
I wouldn’t mind a mix of Halo 2/3 style brutes. I would actually be ok with 343 making their own style. I mean brutes have been different in every game they have been in so far so who could criticise 343 for making their own style?
I would like the Halo 2 brutes with beserking but with the pack mentality that was seen in Halo 3. I would also like the Halo 3 chieftains with power armor to be the leaders of the pack in certain occasions.
Having a mix of all them would be pretty cool. Each variant having a special gimmick attached. Some types go berserk, some have power armor and shields, and ect. Would be very interesting.

Jackals and Elites where also in the Spartan Locke cgi trailer, safe to assume they’re in too.

I want a completely new style of brute. that look more Savage and animalistic and wearing old tavern and broken power armor from Halo 3. their weapons were also share a similar theme
