Which weapon do you prefer and which weapon do you think would win?
IF you were purely just shooting the guns using nothing else storm rifle, but if you were allowed to melee brute plasma or if you were allowed to switch weapons.

Brute plasma rifle loses in extreme closer range to the storm rifle unless you can get a super fast melee hit. If you stay at like 15-20ft and fire in medium bursts, you can get some pretty easy multikills with the brute plasma rifle though.
Screw the storm rifle… Remnant trash…
With the Brute Plasma Rifle, you get raw power and might flying towards the enemy with a red fury. A skilled user can compensate for the overheating, possibly by charging at the enemy and ripping of their arms.
The Storm Rifle is a much more balanced weapon. Pretty easy to use.
The Brute Plasma is no slouch (especially in a melee), though it’s better suited as a disruption weapon than an actual killing weapon.
Storm rifle would win
The storm rifle has a faster TTK because it’s the opposite of the Brute Plasma Rifle. The Storm Rifle design is that it does minor damage to shields but it drains health crazy fast The plasma rifle flips that and drains shields fast but doesn’t do a lot to health. The storm rifle is just plain overpowered because, despite it’s intended design, it does crazy damage to shields and damage. The plasma rifle’s intended play style is closer to autos of Halo’s past, where you’d drain the shields then follow up with a melee.
TL;DR: The Storm rifle is overpowered so it’s going to win, but the plasma rifle isn’t a bad gun when up against other weapons.
Alone, the storm rifle will win every time. But if the brute plasma rifle had something like a magnum paired with it, it would win most of the time, unless the storm rifle was rally close. The brute plasma rifle is better used as a plasma pistol style of play, after taking out the shields, you should pull out your other weapon. The brute plasma rifle is great for taking out overshields or elite bosses with tons of shields. Not very good on it’s own.
Depends on if you are talking about just the basics or upgraded versions?
- Storm Rifle over Brute Plasma Rifle - Sorrow of Teash over Fury - Dependent on the situation for Scale of Soirapt or Blissful Slumber. Obviously in CQB situations the Scale will be better because of the one hit melee kill, but the Blissful Slumber is pretty amazing from range. That is the hardest one for me to choose, but I would have to say that I choose the Slumber because of level 3 Req’s vs level 5 Req’s. Overall I think I prefer Storm Rifles, but the main reason for that is the Req levels rather than which I think will win. If it is which I think will win then overall I think that the Plasma Rifles would win.

Also add that it takes down shields faster so you can switch your weapon can finish them with a headshot.
If you can melee it takes only a couple shots for the b plasma to weaken someone enough so that a melee is a 1 shot. I prefer the brute plasma rifle for that and for its pairing with precision weapons.

They each have their ideal/correct uses, so they are both useful.
The Storm Rifle is good early game because it beats out the AR and is really strong in close quarters.
The Brute Plasma Rifle is essentially a Plasma Pistol. You use it to take out the enemy’s shields before finishing them off with a precision weapon.
They are both useful in their own ways.
Brute Plasma Rifles are used mainly to take out shields, but Storm Rifles take out both shields and armor. I personally prefer the Plasma Rifle because I tend to find myself in CQC positions.
The Brute Plasma rifle is much slower in Halo 5 than previous Halo games. In Halo 5 I would say storm rifle wins especially at closer ranges, if you had the original Brute plasma it would win at close range
