Since Halo MCC came out on PC, I have been working on Reshade filters for each multiplayer and single player maps, the work has been enormous. I think an update broke the MXAO and PPFX SSDO shaders, they now have some kind of flickering lines instead of being precise.
Most of my Reshade filters are ruined, I need your help.
not sure if it applies to you but if you have AO enabled in nvidia settings it can cause flickering on ground and other terrain features on reach (rocks have a pinkish flicker) also if AO is not on in nvidia settings for the mcc, you can still see black lines, glitches on reach when looking at certain angles, mainly at the ground. i noticed these issues on Long Night of Solace.
I ended up using 3dmigoto to disable a shader which disabled the games AO or whatever effect it was, i also disabled patchy fog as at fov 120 fog causes an ugly stretching effect on the left and right of the screen.
i was using reshade for sharpening but ditched it, opting for AA and 16x Anis. without the dodgy patchy fog, reach looks very clear.
Ambient Occlusion is disabled in my Nvidia settings, it says it’s not supported for this application.
In these almost 2 years of Reshade work on Halo MCC, I had no flickering or black lines when using ambient occlusion shaders till recently after an update probably.
I want to clarify that the lines are so intense that my filters are just wasted.
If some of you has a fix for this or can report it directly to 343, I’ll give you one of my reshade presets.
I will make a video or picture of one of my Reshade presets and post it in this forum in the future.
Drahicr, I will see if 3dmigoto can fix the issue.
I just deleted my version of Reshade. Guess I’ll have to wait for the Windows 11 version of Reshade.

How recently are we talking? I don’t think there has been an update to the game on Steam in the past week. Season 8 is not out yet. Before that it has been at least over a month, probably over two months, before the last update.
I believe after Season 7 released 343i did a hotfix update but that was close to a month after the release of Season 7 and there hasn’t been an update to MCC since.
When was the last day it worked and when did it break? I think it might have been something else that caused this.
refering to my issue, i reckon one of the updates introduced visual glitches / artifacts. if 3dmigoto gets rid of them, then they aren’t caused by graphics driver or gpu but the game(s) themselves.
sometimes i see a weapon lens flare glitch on halo 4, 3dmigoto also can fix that.
here’s a screen shot of the glitch on reach LNOS;
the more i look at it makes me think it’s the games dodgy AO and turning it on in nvidia settings makes it look even worse and then rocks start flickering pink. AO sucks in the mcc.
I solved the issue. In Reshade you have to go in “Edit global preprocessor definitions” then Reshade depth linearization far plane = 1000.1, Reshade depth input is reversed = 1.
Then go in D3D11 to Depth Buffers and select “Use aspect ratio heuristics”
