For checkpoints to activate you have to have your shields full
Yeah I still don’t get checkpoints consistently, but it is definitely better when I make sure my shields are up. I end fights with melees and hear my shields go up and still don’t always get a checkpoint.
I also still randomly get checkpoints mid-battle behind cover with my shields not full. Not often, sadly lol but it has happened. So I’m not sure what the deal is.
Regardless they need to fix this for the black eye skull. Looks like an oversight.
That or clearly add it to the description in game.
done bro!
every halo campaign achivement,
(without the pocket scorpion!) JS
Congrats man. I’ve been pretty busy and had to head out of town. So I’m planning on wrapping it up later this week.
The short break probably did me good, I was playing an unhealthy amount lol
It’s not an issue, that’s just how black eye has always worked in Halo. You won’t get a checkpoint unless your shields are back to 100%.
I usually carry a sword on me and clear an area full of enemies but leave one alive so I can grapple/sword and get full shields again.
I can confirm that ensuring I’m 100% shield before completing a objective does trigger a checkpoint. I was stuck for like 2 hours doing the same mission on LASO and tried this. I finally got my checkpoint.
let me know when u back,
and we’ll bash some multiplayer
Has anyone found a fix for this, it’s not just a skull feature. There is 100% a bug here. I’m doing a legendary no skull run and can’t get a checkpoint in the conservatory mission.
If you’re playing LASO it won’t give you checkpoint unless your shields are 100% so you have to make sure they are up.
That being checkpoints are broken. The fact that you can make progress, get checkpoints. Quit the game and come
Back and restarts you at the beginning of the mission is ridiculous
In a recent speedrun of Halo 5 a 343 developer talked about checkpoints and that they were doing multiple checks before triggering a checkpoint. Two of the ones likely still in Infinite are:
- Shields are full
- Feet are touching the ground
Another one was enemy proximity. I’m not sure if that’s still the case because I remember a few Checkpoints in my LASO run, that required me to move as soon as I loaded in because otherwise I’d get hit by enemy fire a few seconds later. If I wanted a save mid-fight (e.g. half the room cleared) I tried to get my shields back an ran a room back. That pretty consistently triggered a save for me.
What made this whole thing a lot easier were fully upgraded Boosters (gives short active camo - no cooldown due to the Bandana skull) and a Sword. Unless someone sticks you with a grenade or short range melees you, it allows you to go through enemies pretty quickly, regenerating your shields all the time.
