Broadsword's been revealed, could this mean

http://www.halowaypoint.com/en-US/halo4guide

Space combat again? The description of the Broadsword practically screams it:

Designation: F-41 Exoatmospheric Multirole Strike Fighter
The F-41 Broadsword is a versatile and well armed A/X strike fighter typically used to engage equal or superior enemy craft in low-to zero-gravity conditions. As its kind has few equals within humanity’s known arsenal, the Broadsword was designed to address the incredible speed and firepower displayed by a variety of Covenant fighters.

If it’s the case, yay space combat! But I certainly hope it’d be more polished than Reach’s experience in the Sabre.

If it is done right then i wont mind… but if i have to play star fox like i did in reach il blow my brains out.

What’s wrong with star fox?

its 2012, thats whats wrong with it.

Starfox is awesome! The space mission is Reach though wasn’t that great…

Sounds more like Halo 4’s iteration of, (and likely successor to), the Longsword Fighter. It probably won’t be pilotable, but will probably make several cameo appearances like it has in previous installments.

EDIT: After looking at it, it definitely looks more like a Sabre than a Longsword, but I still doubt we can fly it.

>implying Star Fox isn’t still -Yoinking!- awesome in todays standards

Lol, you silly gamers these days.

I still play it, though. What if I enjoy it?

What about Legend of Zelda? Metroid?

or even…

Halo CE?

It IS 2012, after all.

And? Thats not a reason.

That’s probably the first time I’ve ever heard that. I loved the Space mission

Lol, you pesky kids and your new technology standards. Back in my day…

For reals, the problem was that is was too short. Even ole gap toofed Adam on xplay said it was too short. I would like one, but it doesnt seem fitting.

New Spartan Ops trailer on the frontpage of Waypoint has a scene with a bunch of Broadsword’s flying towards Requiem’s core.

If this doesn’t confirm space combat in at least Spartan Ops, then I don’t know what will.

I’m with Vancouva, the space mission in Reach was appreciated, but decent at best

I cant even begin to imagine the hilarity of john getting into a space vehicle. Maybe its spartan ops or nothing.

It’s mostly a rail-shooter and though those moments can exist within Halo, I’d prefer it not be with my exofighter.
The combat needs to be a bit more Crimson Skies like. It was close in Reach but not fluid enough, nor varied enough.
Where in Reach the sabre fight was like a StarFox boss battle mode (free flight in an arena), we need a Death Star II tunnel run or Death Star I trench run moment to really feel like we’re the space -Yoink-
Crimson Skies by level design was both free flight and mission parameter restricted flight zone and tunnels. It could be full out dogfight in the open or box canyons, or a speed run through box canyons and tunnels, all in 1 “level”. That’s what we need to have a great time in such a vehicle.

I’m betting on a space battle in Spartan Ops, personally. I think it’s more fitting for something like that to take place there rather than in Campaign for a few reasons, one being how easily accessible each S-Ops mission will be. It also seems like a better platform for 343 to have experimental/niche missions and take some more risks with the gameplay and storytelling.

just throwing it out there that star fox 64 is probably my favorite game of all time
