For any Halo fan who has played Halo Wars, the Grizzly has always been a symbol of the might of the UNSC. Sadly, this powerful vehicle could never find its place in a FPS Halo game. Place this in BTB, the largest gamemode for many previous Halos, and you have an indestructible power vehicle in your hands. In short, the Grizzly was just too good to place into conventional Halo. Thankfully, 343 has provided us with the perfect opportunity to bring the Grizzly back into Halo, Warzone. In Warzone, players have access to a wide variety of vehicles, and the Grizzly would be the perfect addition to this array. However, the Scorpion category is filling up with powerful tanks, with the Hannibal Scorpion falling into the “overpowered” category along with the ONI Scorpion in the recent Ghosts of Meridian content update. Obviously, adding another monstrous tank to the mix woud upset the fine balance between vehicles just a tad. The answer to this problem is to introduce the Grizzly, not as an offensive vehicle, but as a sort of scout tank. The Grizzly in Halo Wars was well-known for its high damage, as well as its high number of hitpoints. Obviously, in Warzone, this would prove to be an almost indestructible combo. My suggestion is to implement the Grizzly with strong armor, but an extremely weak cannon, maybe even barely enough to take out a fully shielded Spartan. For further balancing, maybe increase its speed, but primarily stop the Grizzly from having too much damage. Adding the Grizzly into Warzone would tip the Scorpion scale from “Unbeatable” to “Manageable”. Additionally, the possibility of a new tank would add some much-needed spice into Halo 5’s custom games. Feel free to comment on your own improvements to the Grizzly, and I’ll be more than happy to see your ideas on balancing this iconic vehicle.
