Bring the Firefighting back!

So with the issue of Tryhards now in Warzone, and me being a fairly casual gamer, I just can’t cut it with the big boys. I got upset, I got frustrated, but I really enjoy the gameplay. I remember really loving Reach, and I realized why… I didn’t have to kill anyone, I didn’t need to play a bunny hopping, sword camping, Bazooka Joe person. I get it, they’re all legit strategies, never going to argue that point. I’m not hear to gripe about other players, I’m here just saying, hey… I wanna use my Spartan to just kill some VI aliens and robots. I wanna hang with four friends, decorated as my own spartan and earn my RP points without having to “prove my skill” with a bunch of kids and adults, especially those ones that don’t have jobs and play Halo 18 hours a day. I wanna get my RP by getting to Wave 50 or 100 or whatever the cap may be.

Is it too much to ask? maybe, I’m asking for a whole lot of coding and work from 343, but -Yoink!- ya shouldn’t have given me Firefight in ODST and Reach and you shouldn’t have given me the Infinity episodes in 4. I fully support the guys at 343 and I think they are doing a heck of a job, heck even trying to make Halo an eSport… but please let me stab, shoot and brutalize some alien bots and give me RP for it. I would play Story all night and day if it got me RP but apparently 343 won’t give me any money unless I shoot some snot nosed munchkin in the head for it.

Anyways… guess that was my rant, Who’s with me!?

> but apparently 343 won’t give me any money unless I shoot some snot nosed munchkin in the head for it.

That sentence gave me quite the chuckle, lol. But to the point, absolutely. Completely agree, 100%. I’m fairly decent, but I liked the broad appeal the Halo franchise used to have in the past. I like to go balls to the wall in PVP, but only for a little while. When I get stressed out, I like to kick back, relax, and team up with my buddies in a last stand against ever daunting waves of brutal aliens. I really dislike the H5:G campaign, so I can’t get my PVE fix from that. I want Firefight so badly, SO. BADLY.

I’m so glad someone else does… I was feeling a bit lonely actually! I love my PVE, and it’s sad we can’t have PVE without PVP right there with it and we can’t earn RP unless we run headlong into a cluster____ of players who all move erratically and often times just shoot at rocks, bird or other such stuff. I like to immerse myself when I play for what few hours I can a day. Let’s just keep the thread alive and hope 343 is nice enough to give Firefight back.

Firefight Warzone: Similar to Gears of War 3’s Horde mode, it would consist of one team of 12 Spartans. They would have to defend 3 bases against wave after wave of NPC enemies for 50 waves. Players would have access to their Requisitions Via the Req Stations in each base. The level of reqs the players have access to would increase with each successful round the team survives. Example: Round 1, level 1 reqs available, Round 2 level 2 reqs available, etc, up till round 11 when the req level resets back to level 1 and enemy difficulty increases. Round 10 will see multiple legendary quality bosses spawn and attack the bases along with their minions thus dubbing it the Boss Round. Should the players lose control over all 3 bases, their home base core becomes exposed and the NPCs will begin storming the base attempting to destroy it. At which point the players must get back to their home base to hold off the attackers and defend the core. Control of the bases is not restored to the players until they reach an 11th wave. If the players manage to survive until the 11th wave, their home base core defenses are restored. However, any damage dealt to the core remains and does not recover.

Players get one life per round. If they die, they have to wait until their team manages to win the round and they respawn. However, players are not killed instantly and are merely downed and can be revived by teammates, just like in campaign mode, and have 45 seconds to be revived or else they “bleed out” and die.

RP and XP are rewarded for both loss and victory in Warzone Firefight. Amount of RP and XP yielded is dependent upon the highest wave reached. Reach wave 10, get 1000 XP and RP, 2000 for wave 20, 3000 for wave 30, 4000 for wave 40 and 5000 for wave 50, plus bonuses added on for number of kills, medals, teammate revives, waves survived without dying and boss/legendary take downs, about 5-10 extra points for each.

If the entire team is killed or the core is destroyed the game is over. NPCs take over bases by destroying generators inside the base. With each lost base, more enemies will spawn on the map the next round at the conquered base. Generator health is not restored upon completion of a wave and only restores once an 11th round is reached and control of the bases is restored to the players.

In between each round, players will have 40 seconds of prep time to get ready and get to their positions. 4 spartans will initially spawn at each base. There will be no NPC Marine support. Defense of the bases is completely up to the players. Friendly fire will be turned off to avoid accidental… or intentional… team killing.

Stop promoting this, seriously, it’s way more complicated, it’s a neat idea I get it, but I also don’t want 12 of my friends yelling in my ears for hours on end… a nice 4-6 peeps without the demand of a generator defense style game is all I need. I agree maybe at certain waves req levels should open up but even then that is forcing 343 to make all the maps vehicle compatible, let’s not limit the developers like that. i just want Firefight… That said, yeah if Warzone Firefight could happen it would be nice, but I’m not going to force 343 to cram their coders into a little cubical any more then needed to get a nice, functional firefight.

Edit: Also, if you give them all the ideas, then they are obligated by law to credit you, then they owe you, THAT is why companies usually don’t impliment things that were flushed out in their entirety by players.

I have always enjoyed FireFight, and with all the new Enemies 343i has included to this series… It would be amazing.

Something they should look at for Halo 6.

Yeah I’m totally with u man. Im on a business trip right now so im just tryin to chill and play warzone in my hotel room and these damn people who like to rush and capture all the bases and win the game in 5 mins is getting ridiculously annoying. I got all these reqs i wanna use and i cant because the only pve like game mode in halo 5 is turning all competitive pvp. Man i quit that crap in a heart beat. So im ready 343 for our dedicated pve co-op. Bring on the firefight! Lets go!

Agreed. I also wish they would just give us the tools to build it as well… The halo community’s imagination is infinitely more fantastic!

I love Arena and though I’m no beast, I don’t think I’m the worst H5 player ever. But I totally feel you man.
Sometimes I just can’t be bothered with all the hardcore competing, but still want that Halo experience.
I think 343 thought Warzone could provide that fix, but either I completely suck at it, or something’s off.
I’m a better Arena than Warzone player, while Warzone should be the ‘casual friendly’ mode, no?

I think Halo 5 desperately needs a Firefight mode of some sorts to just kick back and mess around with friends.

Hmmmm even better! I never thought of that. As far as pve goes i think the community has great ideas and the halo franchise has so much potential to explore. I would love to see like an invasion type game or like an assault on a super carrier. Ill even settle for the kraken or scarab.

I’d love to see something like this get put in.

Firefight is mediocre when compared with other more inventive PVE modes. Warzone is an amazing edition. A new PVE mode with a new idea is what will outstanding

I’d agree with you but ultimately Warzone is flawed too. It was an attempt to throw a wrench into a team v team game but with all the enemies localized to one area or another it just forces a weird dog-pile the VP situation. If the enemies wandered and attacked… that would be, in my estimations, more lively and fluid game play. Firefight felt PvE. Warzone is PVP with obstacles PRETENDING to be PVE.

Bungie gave you firefight not 343i.

PvE would be a great addition… especially if we could have the forge tools to make our own maps and scenarios… that would be amazing!

Completely agreed. Support this on the thread linked above.

Firefight is amazing. Bring it back!

Firefight isn’t for the MLG competitive try hards pro morons. That’s why 343i won’t add firefight

AGREED!
Remember Reach
