I don’t even have to explain why 343i should bring it back. With the Forge system we have now, it would be orgasmic.

At least Erosion has a large featureless room perfect for smaller Forge maps (as well as being a dandy Grifball court!) - and in fairness, there are plenty of open-space maps to use as uncluttered ‘blank’ Forge templates.
For instance, try using the ‘space’ in Impact - granted, you’d need to Forge the floor of the map yourself, but that worked perfectly well for some of the Reach Forge maps. Indeed, that’s exactly what the Impact variant ‘Relay’ does already.
I think a jetpack would break Sandtrap, as would hitscan (as well as nearly spreadless) precision weapons.
Seeing them bring that map back would bring back the unseen enemies known as “The Guardians”. Which was endless fun no matter how many times one would die they would keep tring to out run the “Rockets” that the guardians shot at anyone to leave the map boundry.

I think you are getting sandbox and sandtrap mixed up 
Anyways, I really gutted with halo 4 forge. There is not one single area of flatish ground big enough to accommodate a BTB map. Instead we get tiny patches of ground with uneven shapes and masses of intrusive features that rule out any real creative forging beyond a few simple edits. And why the stupid grid? Surely we would have been better served with a grid sized object with a grassy or rocky texture?

I like the new Forge maps, and I think their smaller size is why we have so many dev-made BTB maps: because those would be harder to forge than 4v4 maps. I do think that we should get another decent Forge map in DLC, though. I like the variety we have, but we’re a bit limited aesthetically. A map like Sandbox (sorry, I thought you posted about SandTRAP) would be nice, with its stone architecture. I would be all for it, although I would be fine with any open Forge map with Sandbox-esque piece textures.

I really doubt 343 will be bringing back any more of the old maps. Unless they do a remaster of Halo 2 and include some of that game’s maps (like they did in CEA) then I’d assume it’s unlikely we’ll see the old ones again.
Besides, as much as I love Sandtrap, can you imagine how bad it would be with the new stuff in Halo 4? (Sprint, DMR, etc). Just like Valhalla/Ragnarok, nobody would be seen out in the open because you’d be picked off with the DMR.
I agree, sandbox would be incredible, just think of all the custom game possibilities!
