Mcc Style Matchmaking would fix alot of issues people have with this game and even help the progression problem.
You can pick exactly what you want to play.
You can pick a mode that helps with your challenges.
You can pick multiple modes that you like or even pick a mode you like and one that a friend likes.
If you want ranked to be about being good at all the similar modes and maps then alright but social should let you play what you want. (similar as in classic halo ttk)
Take it a step forward even and allow people to weight the game modes. Toggle input based Matchmaking. Add a option to pick preferred maps (just weighted higher not disabled to avoid long queue times) even a option to test potential forge maps that might be added into normal rotation.
You already developed the best system and instead went the complete opposite direction, give us choice.
One thing I don’t like about the MCC system is that if I search for a particular combo that is less popular, the game takes a while to find players and they are often unsuitably matched so I’m just playing players with no experience and it is not fun.
If I want random, I can’t as inevitably if you select everything you just get the same gametypes and games over and over.
It is also why I wasn’t fan of the voting system in Reach. Played the same maps over and over, barely any variety.
That’s why I proposed allowing players to weight the gametypes to there liking. So you could keep all enabled and weight something less popular higher if you like.
Bring back the system and improve apon is what I want.
Yeah that’s true, but the more selection, the more the population is diluted. I bet some combinations are impossible to get a game of in MCC. Could be similar for Halo Infinite even with a large population although arguably at that point should the gametype even be included if it is so unpopular.
.I dunno I’m just spitballing, like if we had a map slider you’d genuinely never get to play some maps I think.
I 1000% agree with you on map filtering. Like you said, it was so annoying being forced into map meta because of voting.

I really don’t think any mode should be dead because all Halo modes are fun times. Obviously in my opinion. I just want to be able to play what I want when I want. But I could definitely see a mode dying like you’re saying, we just will have to see what 343 chooses to do.
Yeah with some of the options they would have to be preferential. So you could still get a map you didn’t like to avoid splitting the community.
I hated the veto system because you never got to play anything but a couple maps.
I would like player driven weighting because 343 is arguably terrible at it. They would have tons of modes in action sack and you would get 3 over and over again.
*the thing about map and mode filtering is there going to do it anyway as soon as people start complaining. I want control over it.
I don’t think any system is perfect but MCC with the match composer I personally think is the best the Halo series has had as far as searching for modes goes. It definitely can still be tweaked to fit Infinites agenda a little better maybe and some modes can become harder to get in just on the fact of their popularity but just having the choice to choose what you want to play/search for is just better. Also Infinites population I feel will make being able to find certain modes a lot easier compared to MCC. If the case pops up you keep getting one mode and you want to switch, you just deselect it and search for the other modes you want to play.
I think they should give as much control as possible for a player to decide what they want to play and how often. Mcc is great in that regard but can be improved.
