Some of you may not agree with me, but I believe Halo should go back to it’s prime. 343i Should have strong communication with the pros and rebuild the multiplayer back to where it was. They do not need to continue with what happened after Halo 3 (Reach and more recent) multiplayer wise.
I want to go back to the days when we could go online and do this:
That there is some inspiration, and we don’t have that anymore. I want that back.
PS: If you are going to tell me that Halo has been better Since Halo: Reach and so on, just take a look at the player count of how many people are playing online compared to Halo 3 days. It shows that you are a minority. most of the major Halo fans walked out because they feel the game walked out on them. There’s a reason Halo 4 isn’t in MLG.
If you can make the next Halo as good as Halo 2 or 3, You win. you win everything and get all of our money. We will love you and play your game forever. you don’t even have to make any more of them. feel free to do so if you like though. I know 343i had MLG Pros help with the weapon tuning update (Ninja), keep that up, it shows you care and that you want to improve your game.
I also agree that I believe Halo took a step in the wrong direction heading into Halo: Reach. I just wish 343i would attempt to make a new Halo without Armor Abilities and played it closer to what it used to be. For the good of the franchise, start from Halo 3. It may be hard to tell a story that removes armor abilitis when it previously had them, but you can say he got new armor (or old armor) back at earth.
Standing ovation!
Make a Halo that makes us demand you take our money! Read the threads with hundreds of replies asking for needed improvements, to return missing features, and make it COMPLETE!
I will be hanging back this time, for the first time since Halo 2, I will not be at the midnight launch. I am going to wait for the reviews and impressions from others before I hand you the money this time.
XboX One, Halo Xbox One, you have a high, high hurdle. But if you do it right…you have my money.
I want to properly share my opinion on GAF because I know Devs look there, but I haven’t gotten approved yet. In the past, I haven’t seen recognition being given to people who post on Waypoint to 343i staff. I’d love to send this message to Frankie and hear what he thinks on this point, I’d like to know where 343i feels the core of the game should be valued.
I’ve seen on GAF that Frankie has posted some form of reply to this subject: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=64574956&postcount=1539
and that makes me happy and hopeful, but I can only truly be worry free once I’ve had two things happen. The first would be getting a reply from the person in charge of how the direction of multiplayer for a new Halo will go (I would assume Frankie). I don’t usually believe I’m going to be heard so I look for replies to other people on similar subjects, but to be truly at ease, addressing the points I have personally stated in the manner that I have presented would need to be done.
The second thing would be for me to actually play the game, and that will come when it’s released. But to have my points addressed is key, and I hope somehow that can happen.
I understand if you feel that replying to this subject is too risky due to upsetting an audience, but I also feel that communication with your fan base is essential to regaining your fan base and keeping people who still have hope around.
Agreed, I’m not staying around for Halo 5 but there are a lot of fans that are. They deserve a game worth their money.
If they wanted to make a game with multiplayer exactly like Halo 3, I’m confident they could do it. 343 isn’t stupid.
That said, they don’t. And its not because they want to disrespect the players who love Halo 3 or anything like that. 343, with Halo 4, was trying to bring the Halo franchise into the more modern FPS generation. Adding features such as Sprint and Ordnance drops appeal to the casual FPS player. Its just a product of today’s gaming environment. Agree or disagree with that but its objectively true.
What you are asserting is that if 343 made a game similar to Halo 3’s multiplayer it would be a huge success. I will have to say that it probably wouldn’t be. Would I play it? Absolutely and so would many fans of the Halo franchise. That said, the game would feel so dated and so out of place in this generation of games that it would just feel boring to many players. The post you linked suggests that this type of stagnation could have killed the franchise completely.
You are correct in saying the weapon update is a step in the right direction. Will armor abilities be removed? Doubtful but if you remove OP abilities such as CAMO the game would play a lot differently (no more kids camping in the back invisible!). Little tweaks like this make vast changes to the game. After the weapon update, multiplayer is completely different in Halo 4 now than when it was released in November.
A joining between Halo 3 and Halo 4 would, I’d say, be the most beneficial move for the franchise. But its worth saying, the days of Halo 3 are not returning. The FPS gaming world won’t be dominated by Halo like it was. To believe that it will be is foolish. The game requires too much skill when compared to other FPS out there and casual players won’t stick with the game because of it. It’s just the way it is.
Either way, I’m confident 343 knows what their doing and their continual support to address players’ concerns is welcomed and very good. They are much better in that department than Bungie ever was.
I agree with you that it would probably have to move somewhere. But I believe armor abilities were the wrong direction. If they implemented something that didn’t stop the flow of gameplay, that would be a success. Also with the new features of Xbox one, they could take a halo 3 style game and make it different with the kind of maps and game modes that they can create. Maybe if they made a poll for ideas they have for a direction they can go on GAF and on Waypoint, they can get some input on what people think, or they can do a beta.
What’s wrong with AA’s? I think they work well to evolve Halo gameplay.
For Halo 5, I trust 343 but I still need to put hands on the game or see it on YT.
What additions could they add to evolve the gameplay while also having a classic feel fans will love? If 343 can somehow add true innovations to Halo MP gameplay and networking, while also having a classic feel, then homerun. Time will tell.
i dont get it!!!
if you want halo back then go back to halo 3 its not hard, and plus halo 3 will be release in the market place for free so more people will play halo 3

> I don’t understand where this logic of “halo was dying and stagnating at Halo 3” comes from.

> Halo 3 sold 11 million copies and even after a 3 year life cycyle(which is unheard of in today’s online console MP ecosystem) remained in second place on the XBL charts.

> Halo really could not have been in a stronger place heading into Reach. The only thing that caused halo to stagnate were Halo Reach and Halo 4. Because they were sub par games.
When the company releases a new game in the series, the support for the game moves to the new game and so does the main focus. the main player base moves on naturally and tries to like the new Halo. Going back to the old one isn’t necessarily fair to the players since they expected a worthy successor and are now left with outdated software that isn’t supported anymore (look at Halo 2’s server shutdown). They needed to move forward in a way that doesn’t interfere with the game, but with small additions to the game that do not interfere in any way with the core of the game. this can be done with the way maps are made or specific game modes and playlists.
