Just got off my first day of playing H5 Guardians in the FFA playlist.
My only real complaint with this game so far is the spawn system. I know I’m not alone there. The maps in the FFA playlist feel too small for 8 people, and there are simply not enough spawn points. Players spawn behind each other or in the middle of gunfights all the time, opponents spawn in the same room as you while your shield is recharging (particularly bad on Pegasus), and many spawn points are exposed and leave you no way to get to cover quickly (the snipe spawn and lower bridge spawn on Orion, for example). The players who get the power weapons quickly can essentially sit between spawn points and hammer the people who respawn over and over again. On The Rig, I find myself respawning at the same point 5 or 6 times in a row, regardless of how many people are in the area or how many times I have just died there.
Coupled with the extremely open map design, which means that at any given point on the map you can be taking shots from 3-4 different directions, this leads to very fast kill times in a way that, at least in my opinion, isn’t fun. I have noticed that 4v4 has a much better pace because your team can control part of the map, but FFA is out of control. I hope this gets addressed soon. One way to make things better would be to simply reduce the number of people in the playlist to 6 instead of 8. It would mean that there would be more spawn points open and free of carnage at any given time and would greatly improve the flow of the game.
