Back in Halo Reach, when somebody on your team was talking, their service tag and indicator would go white to indicate ‘this is the player who is talking’.
If the player was not on screen, a little white objective marker would appear on the edge of the screen in the direction of the speaking player.
We could use that back. For players who talk to each other, its omission is almost as glaring as the initial lack of ‘X’ indicators. Yes there are service tags that indicate who’s who at a glance, but searching for a particular service tag amongst up to 7 others is more of a pain than it should be, especially when that person could be anywhere beside, behind, above or below you… and that only works if you can instantly associate a voice with a service tag from the top of your head.
Imagine being able to say “somebody dropped a sniper over here near me” and people actually know where you are like back in Reach. More often than not if somebody on my team does a callout like that, my response is “where the hell are you?”
Oh how I miss the voice indicators.
