Bring Back The “Yoink!” Medal

I just want this medal back because when you’re assassinating someone, you feel like a bada** and you know it. So when you decide to ruin the fun for someone else intentionally, I like the idea that you have a medal to remind you of your actions. Or for an upset teammate to hunt you down post game.

Your thoughts on this medal? Any other medals you want to return?

I totally agree. Yoink! is one of my favorite medals.

I don’t want it back. I don’t know whether Bungie originally intended it to be a badge of shame or not, but players took it as a good thing and considered it a reward for stealing assassination. Players will take it as a badge of honor. It’s like making a medal for betraying. So rather than give anything for yoinking, best to not reward that sort of behavior with any sort of mark. I was glad that 343 removed the Yoink medal for Halo 4.

Showstopper should definitely be in Infinite, though; now that’s a medal to be proud of.

I cannot disagree with this more. The ‘Yoink!’ medal only encouraged teammates to steal each other’s kills. It was horrible.

All the weapon spree medals and how they worked in Reach.

I don’t know if that medal really made anyone do it to be honest. In Halo 5 all I remember were teammates taking the shot when someone was assainanting and in some not so rare cases kill the teammate in the process. In Reach up to 5 the only way I’ve been able to make sure I got the assaination was when I was completely alone or playing with friends. Hell someone sniped an assaination out of my fingers once in BTB from home base.

Having a Yoink medal didn’t make me want to steal assassinations. I just did it because I felt like being an -Yoink-.

Maybe the existence of the Yoink medal didn’t increase prevalence of assassination stealing, but I still feel like there should be no system that acknowledges or credits that behavior. The merits of how assassinations work since Reach is a different discussion, but I personally consider Yoinking to be unsporting behavior–similar to but not as severe as betraying–and therefore don’t want any sort of public recognition for it. It’s not something so bad that it deserves punishment like betrayals do, but it shouldn’t be given value with a medal.

Breezy…has betrayed me!

I go for yoinks 100% of the time because I am anti-assassination. All they do is waste time and take someone out of the game. I actually hate it whenever I accidentally get pulled into one. I always punish teammates for taking time to assassinate instead of trying to win.

It’s aggravating enough when people steal your assassinations. I’m not too keen on encouraging more players to do it by giving them a medal

I don’t think I’d mind if it returned, but you have a point.

Having an assassination stolen has saved my life on occasion, but it is unfortunate when it’s stolen and the only danger was to the guy getting stabbed.

I never felt good stealing anyones assassination or them stealing mine. I don’t think yoink was a good idea. If you ever get yoinked, you know I didn’t do it. But this is a completely different situation because something told me I was going to get an overkill.

Don’t want this medal to come back as it’s already hard enough to sneak behind someone & assassinate him. Even more frustrating as this medal encourages players to steal their teammate’s kill.

Only the try hards and kill joys don’t like the yoink medal. People like them are why no one likes Halo anymore.

I agree with this. It encouraged non-team playing. I am against anything that does from medals to achievements. Anything that discourages team play towards the game types objective should be removed. Such as tracking k/d in objective game types.

I wouldn’t really care whether it’s there or not. I dont really think it’s anything shameful for those who do it on purpose and would probably just be showoffs about how many medals they have got from people who waste time and leave themselves vulnerable for the sake of animation, especially if they get extra xp for extra earned medal.

So not keen to such medals return but since I dont really use assassinations in competitive modes, It doesn’t bother me that much in either case.

On the other hand , I could say only griefers and trolls like the yoink medal and they are the reason no one likes Halo any more.
See how assumptions are a double edged sword?

I’d do better. Give those who rack up enough yoinks a forced, recognizable nameplate like a mark of shame. There’s no place in the community for those heretics.

Jk, jk, but I’d still like to have assassination and beat down to be two different keys/buttons.
