Bring back the Veto system!

In Halo 3, a brilliant system was introduced. This was known as vetoing. With vetoing, if you didn’t like a map or gametype (or both), you could press X to veto it. If more than half the people in the lobby also vetoed, then the map and gametype would change and no one got to choose what it would be. This meant that eventually, you would have been able to play on every single map in the game, which is great.

In Halo Reach and Halo 4, voting replaced vetoing. With this you could vote for what map you wanted to play. Unsurprisingly, the same maps were chosen all the time, whilst other were left untouched. One of my favourite maps in Halo 4, Longbow, is never chosen for BTB games and I’m usually the only one to vote for it.

If vetoing it brought back in Halo 5, it means that everyone is given a chance to play every map at least once in matchmaking. I don’t know if I’ve worded this weirdly or not, but I just want a return of the old system. It worked. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

bump

I would even prefer it that the game decides entirely what will get played after you selected a specific playlist, so give the player neither voting nor veto options.

It simply is the fastest and the fairest system and allows for the most variety as well.

Yes please. I hate the voting system. I’ve played 6-8 matches of Halo 2 anniversary and they’ve all been lockout or shrine.

Don’t get me wrong I like the maps, but I’d rather avoid the Halo 4 incident of only playing the same 1-2 maps repeatedly.

I’d like veto to return. It allowed for every map to be played instead of allowing people to vote on their favorite 2 or 3 maps and playing on those 24/7.

This! 343i do this ^

no
why should I be forced to play a map or gametype I don’t want to?

When you get overruled by other people you will be forced to play it just as well. So, in which way does your argument speak for voting?

Plus, only because you don’t like playing on a certain map doesn’t mean that every single person does so as well.

^^this^^ I remember the veto system working just fine. Yeah people would get upset because they got a map they didn’t want but they stuck with it.

why should I be forced to play on a map I hate because the party on the other team all picked it?

Random ensures a balanced map rotation and the vetoes allow us to change to a different map and game mode. It actually makes you think about what it could get turned into and whether or not you think vetoing is worth it.

voting ensures the same maps will always be played and that gets incredibly boring and doesn’t help 343 at all.

It makes you play a more diverse set of games rather than “the biggest mistake party always gets what they want” which only puts the ball further in the party players court which isn’t fair for random solos.

I do like the veto system a LOT better. Voting just encourages repetition, which in a game like Halo that has a ton of great maps is no fun. I like quirky maps like Boarding Action and Backwash, but I will likely never play those in MM under the voting system. Here’s to hoping Halo 5 goes back to vetoes.

I agree. No voting!!!

Veto the voting.

Agreed

I agree. The veto system is much better for map rotation. For the few games I have played in H2A MM, Lockdown BR is getting old fast.

I hereby support the veto system and hope that 343 Industries will implement it into Halo 5: Guardians
