Bring back the torch!

On the first Halo, there was a torch on your head that u could turn on and off, using the Dpad. Bring that back, and make it easy to make dark maps, unlike Halo Reach, where it was almost impossible.
This would add more complexity, fun and skills. (skills; you could be in a dark area, with your torch off, an enemy walks in and he doesn’ti see u, then u assassinate him, or something like that)

What?! You mean the flashlight?

That flashlight was activated via the white or black button.

It’s much better in Reach, which is a less blinding version of the visor used in ODST.

Umm…Reach had night-vision.

You’re joking right? Reach had night vision that was basically a coloured filter that didn’t make it any easier to see in the dark.

It kind of was the first armor ability… how about make it a mod or equipment instead?

It wasn’t a torch TC; it was a flash light located on MC’s helmet. Halo 3 ODST had the VISR mode and Reach had the night vision.

It wasn’t hard to see anything in both games. Increase your brightness a little bit?

Indeed. Although, Halo 4 seems to have much more graphical content seen as that it is the first 720p HD game. The way those graphics look on Halo 4, I think there are going to be some dark moments. I do think the Flashlight would be necessary, although it should be a hell ofa lot brighter.

Or maybe there might not even be night vision, flashlight or VISR mode seen as that there is going to be Promethean vision.

In some places (such as Australia and the UK) people don’t say flash light, they say torch.

Ah i see. I did not know this :P.

It’s just that it’s more commonly known as a flash light to most people. Inb4throwingrocks@theyank.

Neither one is really accurate when you think about it but to almost a seventh of the world, it’s called a torch. Not sure what those who learn English in non-English speaking countries refer to it as.

Halo 4 has Promethean Vision. BAM!

Joke, I hope they still keep flashlights in the game.

I have an idea. Why include halo 3’s “Visor Polarization” effect to a more extreme level?

Anyone else remember how in Halo 3, if you were out in the sunlight, looking into a dark area (like the inside of a downed pelican), and then walked in it would “brighten”, then when you turned around, it looked blinding outside until you walked out, and it “darkened”?

This way you will never have to turn night vision/flashlight etc on and off, as MC’s Visor will automatically polarize to suit his environment. It would be pretty awesome.

This would also help solve the indoor Forge map problem with Dynamic Lighting, keeping them from being unnecessarily dark, since while actually inside dark rooms, your visor will brighten enough to clarify your surroundings.

the flashlight seemed to see further to me, i want it back

Fantastic, The story of Halo is set several hundred years in the future. The technology has evolved so much that space travel almost seems as a chore, we created functional full body armor allowing the user to do amazing feats of athleticism…but they still use primitive means of illumination by using a torch?
