I really hope that in time that 343 in some way continues/wraps up the spirit of fire story/crew. whether that be by making halo wars 2 somehow, or by including it in a book or another game. I dont like how they have that story arc drifting away in some unknown part of the galaxy, its been about 26 years since they were last heard from and barring any problems (halo wars vague legendary ending) they should hopefully be much closer to human space (they were still using their regular engines as their slipspace drives were gone) (2531 till 2557)
I don’t think they may even be near any Human - occupied space. The galaxy is very fast, Slipspace FTL takes days to converge to distant location from one point. The Spirit of Fire doesn’t have an FTL drive at the current moment and its still in the location of the shield world or the nebula in which it is located or somewhere close to it. The Shield World itself was in an unknown location. So in all probability the UNSC Spirit of Fire is still drifting aimlessly unless it encounters the Covenant Remnant or an unknown Alien race.
Though I still cannot understand the reason why the remaining crew of the SoF is unable to build an FTL drive from the Ships available parts. Even a crude FTL drive can send a small Drones to Human space and tell them about the ship’s plight. Serina can also overlook the engineering part of the FTL, if there are less enginners on the ship, since she is a Smart AI.
Too many theories and plot holes for their absence I say.
Maybe 343i is just so zealous about promoting Sarah Palmer that they may have diverted resources from the more interesting parts of the Halo lore.
i think 343 will wrap up this story line, they already answered us w wat happened to jun. i have faith that they will listen to community feedback
What could happen is the crew could return to human space under relativistic speeds. It’s drives would have enough output to get it to those speeds, and the ship has the tech required to build a mushroom cap shield to protect it during transit.

Just in time to appear in halo 9000.
But honestly, What would bringing the SoF back actually add to Halo?
The ship’s AI had a fun personality, but yeah I’ve never understood the fascination with SOF. Most the characters were rather stereotypical. At least they weren’t annoying though, unlike the announcer.
I believe it was said that it would take decades for the SoF to return to Human-controlled space, which would mean that they could return within a few years before 2552, to quite a few years after. Of course, what once was UNSC space is no longer controlled by the UNSC.
Would they not have the ability to send out some sort of transmission to the UNSC over all this time? Perhaps they didn’t do such a thing because they were afraid the Covenant would intercept it and locate the source.
Something also happened at some point before they were found by the UNSC according to Serina, that could possibly be them returning to the nearest UNSC planet (possibly Arcadia), only to find it destroyed. Perhaps they could have acquired and fixed up a Slipspace drive from a destroyed ship or something of the like, and used it to get back to Earth. I would imagine a ship that big would be of great use to the UNSC in the post-war situation, it would likely be refit and used in the second Covenant war. If Serina was shut off most of the time, and skeleton crews ran the ship until they got close to UNSC space, everyone aboard could still be alive and well.
The SoF could be a very important ship to the UNSC, even with Infinity. I wouldn’t think too many Pheonix-class ships survived the war, if any other than the SoF.

I didn’t really find any stereotypical characters in Halo Wars. If anything, Halo Wars had outstanding character development, it’s a shame that it all went to waste.
The scientist lady was your typical female scientist chick who liked poking everything.
The captain was your typical old captain guy. He’s pretty much keyes, but lives.
The AI was pretty much cortana with clothes on and with the british accent she was meant to have. She had good jokes though.
Forge was cool, but is dead, so isn’t relevant to SoF returning.
Red team has no character development.

They certainly had more than these guys…
Really? Because the differences between red team’s members is one is female, and they have different weapons.
All of noble team has different personalities.

True, but Noble Team still just filled in the stereoypes. (The typical “cut you up” badass guy: Emile, and the “make no mistakes” leader: Carter)
In honesty, it’s been so long since I’ve played Halo Wars’ Campaign, so I really don’t remember Red Team that much…
At the end of Halo Wars, after the end-credits, Serina can be heard saying “Captain, wake up. Something has happened.” My question was… what was that “something”? This leaves potential (books, games, comics) to where the SoF is.

Yeah, I’m not saying noble team was great either, just that they stood out more than red team.
Red team has very few lines beyond basic interaction, and only have a true presence in 1 cinematic, where they have 2 lines and mostly just brawl elites.

I’m unopposed to more things about SOF, I just don’t think it has a place in main halo games.

Don’t get me wrong, you’re damn right that there other things that probably do have a better place in the universe. But I simply stating that the SoF may be featured in the Halo Universe, later on.
Maybe as a cameo appearance or Easter egg. Perhaps glimpse it among a Flood fleet in Halo 6?

As much as I hate to say it (I love happy endings) this is a really good idea.
“Something has Happened” could be the engines are fried, they get pulled down onto a planet (or another Halo ring) which has the flood. ship aint to messed up but due to them being unable to fix the engines, cant reach space, they get swarmed then years later when we see the ship it’s all floodish.
only problem i see with this is the fact that the flood would be feral as there was no gravemind. they would be feral now too because there is no gravemond again (for Now)…

Well, what if a Infection Form or two snuck on board before the SoF escaped the shield world? They emerge, Serena warns the Captain, but a week later, the ship is infested.
Meanwhile, the Flood return, and the third test of the mantle begins. A Gravemind rises.
Now, what used to be a feral Flood ship now has purpose.
Do a FUD Live action with it. or a Motion comic
Mona Lisa style. Horror.
The Ship is dark, broken, Ai gone Rampant.
Have a Flood outbreak from the shield world. Say that some of them got on the hull or inside
And Finally crash into a Sun.
Nice (short) little horror story and it wraps up the fate of the ship
