Following on from the latest community update, I think I speak for a large proportion of the community when I say that while we are definitely excited about the Sidekick and Bulldog, but the prospect of not having a magnum or tactical shotgun is a worrying one. It has been said that Halo: Infinite is a spiritual reboot for the franchise and I personally think that if this philosophy is to be fully realised it would be a missed opportunity on 343i’s part to not include two of the most Iconic weapons in all of Halo.
Let’s all try to keep it clean and be constructive in the replies to this thread
Which magnum? Every halo pistol has been different in aesthetics and performance.

a halo reach / halo 5 mix would be good i think.
the classic shotgun needs to be in the game at launch. its slow reload gave it tactical nuance.

I’m in favor of both classic and new weapons. They also said those classic weapons currently don’t exist in the sandbox, which implies (to me anyway) that they will later reintroduce them eventually (kind of like Halo 5’s gradual updates over time).
I admit I’m still a bit worried that the classic Magnum and Shotgun won’t return (at least yet), but I want the community to look back at the OG days of Halo 2 and ODST/Reach. The AR from H1 didn’t carry over into H2 (the SMG was kind of a successor). The Magnum from H1 to H2 was definitely downgraded in performance. The BR didn’t make an appearance in ODST/Reach. Were they all still bad games? I don’t really think so. I just encourage everyone to look at Infinite with an open mind and see if 343 will eventually introduce those weapons back into the sandbox.

I agree with most of your points but I just want to make it clear I didn’t say Infinite will be bad because of this I am simply concerned that 343i have missed an opportunity.
Im more upset about the shotgun Im sure theyll return, just not at launch. especially with the simpler aesthetic I was ready for the classic shotgun.
