Look, i get it “the new covenant are a subspecies” okay that’s fine. But don’t completely replace the old covenant with them. They should instead mix them. Have old grunts working with new grunts. Have old elites working with new elites. Don’t completely replace the old with the new. Mix them

I thought this thread would be about bringing back brutes and drones.

343i have made the excuse of older style covenant adding nothing to the gameplay. But maybe the new subspecies could have different traits then the old species. For example: new elites could be slower than old elites, but deal more melee damage.

that’s a good point. Also if we follow 343’s logic, replacing the old covenant with these new ones adds nothing to gameplay. It just divides the fans.

Yes, and divided communities can lead to problems for developers, especially if they are Ignored and or censored. Sadly The Halo Community has been divided for at least 4 years now.
But at least 343i have acknowledged the classic designs as canon.
In Halo Wars 2 the suicide grunts are the new versions while the infantry are the classic ones.

I guess the 343i grunts in halo wars 2 hate how ugly they are.
What get me is that no one cared about the changes to looks of species when Bungie did it. The Brutes look different in every game bungie put them in. And the Halo CE Jackals had snouts like the Halo 4,5 Jackals not beaks like the Halo 3,Reach ones.
I miss the old Jackals but the reach skirmishers were so much worse then the new ones. It’s like when they added the feathers to the raptors in Jurassic Park 3 to acknowledge the archaeological findings.

Funny I did too.

That’s because A. Jackals in Halo CE were pretty damn ugly. B. Most of Bungie’s redesigns kept significant details C. There was a major change in graphical capabilitys between Halo 2 & 3. D. Who cares about the design change of an ape when you have a consistent art style?
