The spartan laser hasn’t been truly useful since its introduction in Halo 3. It was good then, and fun to use! And then they nerfed the pants off it in Reach and 4 and 5 for… literally no reason. OP against vehicles? Fine, turn down the damage. But against infantry, it should still be somewhat effective–as it was in Halo 3 (w/o being OP). But they took out the dot in the reticle’s center, upped the charge time, knocked it down to four shots from five, and spread the damage over a longer period of time so that you have to keep the laser pointed at a spartan for a fairly significant amount of time (compared to Halo 3’s laser) to get an infantry kill. It’s a bummer because I think the laser is a cool weapon, and while wielding it may have been fun once upon a time, it is now quite the chore to use (unless you’re after Baron 'Sraom). I get that the laser is designed for vehicles, but it is also hypothetically a power weapon. I’d love if 343 could find a way to make it fun to use against infantry again.
Honestly the one in Reach was the most balenced version and it gave people a reason to want to HAVE it. I remember battles in Reach where half the team would be fighting over the laser.
Now…now I see games on Deadlock where its never touched. Just sits in the middle of the map, spinning.
Ezatly. The laser in H4 and 5 is booty.
