I’ve loved that dern bubble since it feel into my lap back in '07, and it makes me real sad that it’s only been an equipment the Player can use in 2 games. Bring it back please
Feel like it couldn’t be exactly like the Halo 3 bubble shield because of how that would slow down/stop the flow of gameplay. It might have to be something more like the drop wall, where sections of it can only withstand a certain amount of damage and it breaks down piece by piece. In which case, would it be different enough from the drop wall to justify having them be two separate equipment items?
Halo 3 impenetrable bubble was better suited to slower paced, more deliberate play, and slower movement speed

Yeah agree that the Drop Wall is a good implementation and development of the H3 bubble.
From what I experienced in the technical preview I think it also works well in terms of encouraging flanking gameplay which in general I found Infinite to be pushing even more than H5.

Nahh, the drop wall is weak my dude. It’s just a nerfed deployable cover. I don’t care if its in Matchmaking, but for Campaign and Customs I’d love to have the bubble
The bubble shield was annoying. It brought encounters to a grinding stop and lasted way to long. The drop shield is fine, at no point should you be completely protected from everything.

tho i wouldn’t mind having armor lock just as an option in forge and customs lmao

Nahh I don’t think you can knock the bubble for balance issues and then bring up armor lock. At least vehicles could kill people in a bubble, bubble was fine in BTB

Shotguns, grav lifts, and pretty much any vehicle countered the bubble though? What do you mean “everything”?

Its a full 360 invincible barrier to all projectiles and explosions. The scorpion doesn’t counter the bubble, the hornet doesn’t counter the bubble, the wraith doesn’t counter the bubble, the sniper doesn’t counter the bubble, the rockets doesn’t counter the bubble. If you try to go in for a splatter your likely to get jacked or stuck. The player in the bubble shield has so much advantage it’s asinine how little options you have to counter it. You are left with the only two options:
- Enter the bubble and either get gunned downed by a power weapon or at best melee trade. Even when entering with shotgun or sword the person in the bubble can play grenade games with you and bait you into an approach that will leave you one shot. - Wait it out which leaves you vulnerable to any Joe to come by and pepper you with shots which is a cue for the bubbled player to come out and finish the job. - Or the secret third option which is to throw a grav lift, granted the map has one and you have one at the ready. Probably the most creative solution, but also the least used because grav lifts are not as plentiful as bubble shields or simply not on the map at all.The drop shield is balanced, the bubble was not. You can force so many campy stands offs it’s so damn annoying. It had the same effects as armor lock did on game play, albeit to a somewhat lighter degree.

When specifying that I would only want it for messing around in customs, Action Sack etc, not competitive play, yes I can.

You drive through the bubble full speed? You can run people over with any vehicle, and ironically to remain in the bubble at that point would only prevent the Player from defending themselves

Not as much when I was asking for a similar thing, Armor Lock was, and remains to be the most broke piece of equipment to date. The only two stains on Halo Reach’s gameplay for me was the extent of bloom, and Armor Lock.
The bubble shield was a lot of fun… but I see how the new drop shield better fits the sandbox.
But there is no reason why the bubble shield can’t come back… so that we can use it in customs…
And I wouldn’t be adverse to the bubble shield, or any other piece of legacy equipment, having the occasional run in the social play lists. Just for the nostalgia kick.

Also for the sake of the balance discussion, it’s good to note that the drop shield was described as a nerfed deployable cover purposefully. It’s a defensive option that still alloweds for offensive capability.
The drop shield has already been confirmed to allow players to fire through the back of it. Imagine you’re in a 2v1 and the dude uses the drop shield to clean you up. It has the same effect where you pretty much have to disengage if you dont have an immediate counter. At least you couldn’t shoot out of a bubble ijs
I’m open to it returning only in BTB.
Be sweet in btb.
that drop shield is a good replacement and the halo 3 bubble shield honestly still has a place in the sandbox I reckon but like someone said before would be better in BTB or like on maps where it is viable but not busted or just not worth using. The drop shield for what it does is really good in that it doesn’t tank shots from enemies whilst being able to protect the user but instead give them and extra layer of cover that can be destroyed, although the drop shield defs needs to have a quicker deploy time after you throw it because it is very slow and so far hasn’t be able to create those clutch moments like the bubble shield. All this is imo anyways.
a lot of people are saying that the drop wall is the new bubble shield but they aren’t very similar at all, and can easily co-exist serving two different roles.
Bubble shield was too good and super annoyinf, if they brought it back but only lasted half the time I’d be ok with it.
We already have a new shield for Halo Infinite. I don’t think we need 2 shield equipments.
