Seriously, whenever Halo’s online numbers decline its when the multiplayer has moved away from it’s core gameplay and when it’s numbers have stayed high/risen it’s when the core gameplay has been kept in check and we’ve had no game breaking options.
343i have seen our anger and frustration about Halo 4’s multiplayer I just hope they take our feedback on board. I’m all up for them adding new stuff (like we had in Halo 3) but not when it ruins the core gameplay and what we love about Halo’s online.
We know 343i read the forums, we know they listen. I just hope they act with Halo 5 and actually see that infinity slayer does not work for Halo and that the majority of fans despise it and want it removed. I’m not one of those asking for a Halo 3 re-skin I’m just asking for Halo’s core gameplay to be returned at for all these game breaking mechanics to be either fixed or removed.
I asked that the poll question just so we can all see the results of what people thought. I mean if 343i ask a question like that (which they should) they will be able to 100% decide what direction to take with Halo 5 (if they hadn’t noticed it already).

Fair enough, but that’s my stance on it, Infinity is great, but needs tweaks
The loadouts are cool, but some stuff is broken to spawn with (Plasma Pistol, Boltshot, Plasma Grenades)
Personal Ordnance is unfair, luckily they released Team Slayer
Some AA’s shouldn’t be AA’s (Camo, PV and Jetpack)

I agree with you there.
Personal Ordnance breaks the game, giving someone and Incineration Cannon and giving someone else Frag Grenades?? It should be removed.
Yeah Camo, PV and Jetpack should be on the map. Like with power weapons…
Some of the perks too perhaps…I don’t know I’m still a bit undecided about perks to be honest.
The poll is heavily biased. I enjoyed the game, but I’d still prefer a return to form for the franchise (retaining sprint, if 343i could make it work). Halo 4 wasn’t “broken” any more than Halo 1, 2, or 3 were, it just played much differently and, in my opinion, was less enjoyable than the 3 I mentioned.
In my humble opinion, I would love a Halo 3 clone.
Well not clone exactly, but same core gameplay–equipment was fun and made for great customs. The weapons balance seemed pretty darn good–infinitely better than Halo Reach and 4 anyway. And the vehicles weren’t made out of paper. Also, mechanics like descope simply works better than flinch.
On a purely aesthetic note, I think Halo 3 was beautiful and where the series should be headed–not this gray and black Covenant, but neon green and purple and green and even gold Covies. No mechanical-sounding Grunts but hilarious ones.
Halo 3 was an awesome Halo for matchmaking no doubt but I quite like Halo 4. It has been improved greatly since launch. I wouldn’t want to see an exact clone of Halo 3 again but definitely can learn a lot from playing Halo 3 matchmaking and applying some more of the positive things from it to our current experience.
It was fun for what it’s worth, but no. It was in no way a good direction. For one, the core gameplay was very little altered (barring sprint), so elaborating in this direction would only mean the inclusion of more 1 dimensional gameplay gimmicks. 343 needs an actual game changer. I think that’s why halo 4 couldn’t hold over as many people as the previous instalments. The new changes for some were a hindrance to their gameplay, and at the same time the core gameplay just didn’t offer anything substantially new, so it just seemed like more of the same thing with a side of crap mini-mechanics.

Double check those numbers. 2 to 1 say that Halo 4 was broken.

Agreed, Halo 4 has improved much since launch.
No one wants to see a clone of Halo 3. They just want the game to evolve from Halo 3 and not Halo 4.
And there are players who have never played Halo 2/ Halo 3. So we have a problem.
Both Halo REACH and Halo 4 have many good features that work well. Some that need a little tweaking to work better. And some of these features should return.
The main argument is, What Halo do you want?
A Arena Shooter (Classic Halo 2/3).
or
A Loadout Shooter (REACH /Halo 4).
Halo is at a crossroad. With what it needs to be and where it needs to go.

See, this implies that they are in a healthy place to choose a direction.
Each installment of hte first trilogy was the spiritual successor to the previous. They came to a crossroads after Halo 3 and turned down the wrong path imo. When you start guessing what route to take when you’re already in a bad area, you only get yourself more lost. Time to go back to that intersection. Don’t make Halo 5 at that intersection.
Make Halo 5 a few miles down the correct road this time.
I LOVE Custom Loadouts. Is it perfect? Of course not. But I still LOVE Custom Loadouts anyways. And so do majority of my friends.
It allows us to play the style we want to play, with the weapons that we want to start out with.
I want Custom Loadouts to be brought back in Halo 5.
But should those that love Legendary’s style of gameplay be forced to Infinity? Or the other way around? No, of course not. So satisfy both parties, not just one. Have both.

Get rid of the Boltshot.
Give 1 Plasma Grenade instead of 2.
Get rid of Jet Pack.
Make Active Camo a power-up.
Get rid of Personal/Random Ordnance
Get rid of Grenadier, Ammo, Dexterity, Explosives, and Resistor (and the Ordnance-affecting ones obviously) Armor Mods.
Why?
Instant-kill weapon in Loadout? No me gusta.
1 Plasma Grenade isn’t bad. 2 is ridiculous. The first grenade usually misses on infantry, and when you only have 1, vehicles survive much longer and allow them to get a few more kills at least before dying. But if you must get rid of Plasma Greandes in Loadouts, then go right ahead (just remember you loved Midship).
Jet Pack breaks map flow, map movement, and cover.
Active Camo will never work as an AA (in Multiplayer). It works beautifully as a power-up though.
The unfairness/randomness/power-weapon hording is the reason for getting rid of them.
Grenadier promotes grenade spamming. Ammo promotes sitting back without ever moving (and getting those extra shots for power-weapons is stupid). Dexterity allows power-weapons to be reloaded (which is stupid), but also allows unfair early readiness. Explosives makes grenade too powerful, and allows unfair damage resistance. As for Resistor, well, I highly prefer Halo 4’s Sprint over Reach’s, because Halo 4’s allows quick movement while Reach’s allows super easy get-aways, and Resistor is Reach’s Sprint.
What about Promethean Vision? Well, I just see it as a forward-looking, handicap Motion Sensor that can dig out campers. I don’t see the problem with it. In fact, I see it as the most useless AA ever made. If you want to get rid of it, go ahead, I don’t care about it anyways.
Fix those issues, and I’ll believe that the Custom Loadouts system is perfect.
Personal ordinance needs to go bye-bye for reasons everybody agrees with, as well as the whole “let’s give somebody who’s wrecking opponents some upgrades to wreck them more!”
