I’ll keep this short and simple, as what I am suggesting here is only a tiny aspect of previous Halos that I want to return. After all, it’s the little things that turn a great game into an awesome game.
Remember when you landed a perfect headshot with the BR in Halo 3, knocking back the head of your now lifeless opponent? Remember doing so on people that were right about to jump, causing them to make an entire backflip?
Bring it back! Please bring back the backflip mechanic!
This may sound small, but it certainly contributes to the rewarding feel of getting a kill in Halo. The thrill of playing Halo comes from the rewarding feeling people get when owning other people, and THAT is what keeps people returning. To experience that awesomeness again.
Definitely bring this back. It lead to some hilarious deaths however it shouldn’t be all the time since the holding of the wound to the face in Reach was also awesome along with the simple falling to the players knees.
> I don’t think that was an animation; just the ragdoll physics overreacting to the force of the bullet.
>
> Personally, I’d prefer more realistic animations when it comes to kills, but I don’t care all that much.
Could happen the odd time just to keep things interesting.

Of course, making your opponent do a backflip was actually kinda rare in Halo 3. Some other Halo animations are almost as awesome, but I just miss the backflip right now.
Other animations that can make a return imo are the Reach version of the backflip, where the spartan spirals after his own head, and the one you mentioned, where the guy tries to grab the wound of a pistol shot. I don’t even mind if the spartan just ragdolled to the ground once in a while either.
As long as there is plenty of variation in the animations and the H3 backflip is one of them, I will be quite happy.

The barrel roll haha, that’s what I meant with the spiral thing, though barrel roll explains it much better I suppose

Another that should return is the one where the player reaches out with their hand then succumbs to death.
lol this post. So much nostalgia. The Halo: Reach deaths were so gritty! That and the armor were one of the few things I liked about the game. I want to see a bit of non-bloody gore in Halo 5 though if it’s supposed to be “super dark”. Like slicing off limbs with the energy sword (no blood cause of cauterization ya know?)

Snipers for example.
> What about the assassination punch to the moon? That was always good for a few laughs.
Jumps over friend and melee him, body literally flies across the map
That was just awesome on so many levels. Even better when you made it land next to another enemy.

I agree…along with the death sfx’s from Halo: Reach. Most of them sounded hilarious.
