Bring back teamwork.

Alright. Yes. I am super duper impressed with the footage we’ve seen of the wasp. It looks fun. But I feel like halo is deviating from the core concept that makes halo feel so cool, and that’s rewarding teamwork.

It’s a single player VTOL, which is cool, but I feel like the fact that we now have variants is being sort of under used by the dev team.

I frankly feel that the hog wild update was stellar, because it added actual change to the warthogs instead of just “different color warthog hehe because we can”. Hats off for that.

But at the same time, the aerial vehicles are really not that different from their variants besides the fact that they have more armour.

They’re all single player, all use the same armaments, and don’t really change that much between them.

Now we’re getting a fundamentally the same banshee (the temple banshee) and a (hear me out) fundamentally same phaeton. Now the wasp isn’t quite a phaeton, it certainly looks to handle different, and fulfill a different role, but is it unique? Not really.

Why not add variants that allow troop transports? Or even more unique, vehicle transports? Having a vtol drop off a warthog or a mongoose would really be unique.

Why not have gunners seats? Or gunners turrets? Or something to hold a spartan in?

Why do scout hogs have to literally be more armoured mongooses? Why can’t we have 4 seated hogs?

Why do do we have seven variants of the gungoose all shooting the same gun?

Why can’t variants actually have variety? I mean, sure, some hogs have different guns, but most of the variants for other vehicles are literally just more armour or different colours

What rewarding teamwork? Oh, you mean where one guy calls in a warthog and drives off WITHOUT A GUNNER? Ah, yes, the “team work” so often shown in Halo… If anything, this game needs more single operator vehicles, because counting on another person to know what they are doing in this game is like praying for a billion dollars to land on your head out of the blue, it has NO chance of happening.

I can accept that opinion, and it is truely valid, but there’s also fun moments playing with random people that happen when you get somebody with a mike on your turret.

Yes, I think having good, solo vehicles is a good idea, but so far we have the mantis, the wasp, the phaeton, the ghost, and the banshee as individual vehicles.

I’m not at all saying take away individual vehicles, but I’m just saying that when I play with friends, I enjoy working together on the same vehicle. And I enjoy it with random people, even if some of them aren’t great. I play to have fun, not to just win.

When doing arena teamwork is back but I don’t see it in Air vehicles and I don’t know why. I loved the Falcon from Reach. But one thing I think why they did not bring one in is because it would be unfair to have two single air vehicles and one team air vehicle.

How would that be unfair in any way?

Do you mean like unfair to the other team?

how about split screen co-op? that would make for some great teamwork. co-op was the main reason I bought the game :rage:

i guess it is too too technically challenging for 343, even though bungie was able to figure it out 17 years ago

TBH I’d love this, but I think the chances of this happening are the same as co-operative air vehicles happening, aka, slim to none.

Maybe new hardware coming out around halo 6 release will help, but I hope they don’t -Yoink- all over the old Xbox one owners.

new hardware? split screen on the orig xbox n 360, but not on one? no, the hardware is fine if they had the coding chops for it

I would just like to point out that the Wasp is an assault-support type of vehicle. It is more than enough to have one (1) person in the thing. no need for 2 or more people taken away from the main ground battle, there’s warthogs and mongeese or even a tank that could fill in that void.

You want teamwork? Play arena at a high level.

No, I mean it would be unfair to just have team based vehicle that’s UNSC and not have like a team based Covenant or Forerunner vehicle since all those vehicles are single seated.

I’ve pointed this out to several others about creating a videogame in the 2010’s.

People play sertain genres of games, and alot of them. They expect that same “quality” from that point on. In the case of halo, were Halo CE - Halo 4 was playable in CO-OP on the same console, YES. But they all shared one thing. 30fps, and a locked one at that.

The new generation have come to expect quality textures, high resulution gameplay at 60+fps at all times and breathtaking gameplay in general which make them stay and enjoy what they got.

If even one of these thing don’t add up to someones expectation, they freak (or get somewhat disapointed). The reason Split-screen isn’t in Halo 5 is because of my previous point. Halo 5 runs at 60 frames per second in 900p and at worst, will drop to about 30-35fps. (That’s not taking into consideration the massive lag-spikes some are expiriencing lately)

To achieve that they couldn’t fit in Split-screen, otherwise people would be upset about the “10fps” gameplay whenever they played with more than one (1) person on the same console.

To summarize, split screen in Halo will most likely only be possible in the future if they made less quality and high resulution textures, less FX on screen etc. OR! when technology for console gaming gets to a PC-level of performance.

TL:DR → 60fps 900p = NO Split-screen — 30fps (locked) 720p = POSSIBLE Split-Screen

It would be super duper easy to br or dmr someone out of the gunner seat and you would be in the air… Most likely spend more time picking up teammates than flying around and shooting.

Well, true, but odds are we’re going to have a bunch of wasp variants that do nothing more then add more armour. I guess I just sort of have this deep desire to fly about with friends, and just in general have more people in one vehicle.

Maybe be that will let us do 1080p 60fps splitscreen, but I can’t see the old Xbox one doing that.

Halo 5 is completely built around teamwork and competitiveness. How can you not see that?

Yeah, they were capable of it but they didn’t want to sacrifice the 60fps. Quite frankly, I’d take 40fps for splitscreen. I personally thought though that removal of splitscreen was ordered by MS to sell more xbones.

How does that make it unfair? If anything it’s great not all of the air vehicles being more armoured powerful versions of eachother. (That’s basically what a phaeton is, a less manueverable heavier armoured banshee)

Not really, the Banshee is like plane (but easier to fly) While the Phaeton is VTOL is completely opposite of the Wasp as a VTOL.
