Team Matching is something that must return to Halo. If the designated ranking system is based on progression through win/loss, matching a team of four isn’t fair to any player on the opposing team searching alone. In Halo 3 (My true love), if you had a team of four, the matchmaking system would only place you in a match against another team of four. When you searched as a pair, you would match against another pair and two random players, or two pairs against two pairs. This was crucial to the effectiveness of the 1-50 ranking system.
I’ll model it briefly to help explain the gibberish.
A full team could only match as:
4 v 4
A pair of players could only match
2, 1, 1 vs 2, 1, 1
or
2, 1, 1 vs 1, 1, 1, 1
or
2, 2 vs 2, 2
Note: The last model exemplifies four pairs. Or four separate duos searching together.
Teams of threes would always have an additional solo-searcher on their team, vs the exact same setting on the other team.

Currently Halo 5 allows matching a team of four against four solo players, which is nonsensical for the current ranking system. If you decide to rank players based on wins, and only allow them to progress with wins, teams need to be balanced and paired accordingly.
I understand the need to find matches for players quickly. Right now, however, there are an abundance of players on the game, matching a team of four whilst searching as a team of four shouldn’t be too long of a wait. On the other side, a team of four shouldn’t be able to prey on unsuspecting solo players.
If this were to be repurposed and instilled in the Halo 5 matchmaking system, I believe it would solve a lot of issues with CSR placement, skill matching, and the ability to reach your true rank.
