If they return in the next Halo wich i expect them to do bring back the Halo 2 Sentinel classes i miss the golden and sheilded sentinels with blue beams.
what do you think yes or no ?
I have always been a fan for sentinel designs.

Sure. I’m fine either way.
New or returning enemies are always a good challenge. I will say that I have never played Halo 2 (please don’t eat me, I don’t have an old Xbox) but I did some research and I could see them in the next main Halo title.
I always felt the gold sentinels were just a cheap way to have more enemy types.
I’m not opposed to an actually different class of sentinel though.
> I always felt the gold sentinels were just a cheap way to have more enemy types.
By that logic, having different ranks of enemies is a cheap way of having more enemy types.
> I’m not opposed to an actually different class of sentinel though.
I’d really like to see the ones in Halo Wars.
And the Retriver and Guardian Sentinels that were to be in Halo 3.

True but i just love the color x)
i’d like to see the sentinels and enforcers come back, it would add some variety to the 3 promethean classes. and i wouldnt mind seeing the guardian sentinel it seemed like it would’ve been kool.
There were also red themed sentinels on Didact’s ships in the background gathering infomration and what not so i guess they will return as an enemy some how.
Definitely! I would especially like to see the enforcers come back. I always freaked out when they picked up my vehicle.
I find myself agreeing with everybody here, the Sentinel Aggressors, the golden/shielded variations of them, as well as the Sentinel Enforcers and Super Sentinels should make an appearance in future Halo games.
Honestly, the Sentinels feel a thousand times more Forerunner than the Prometheans ever have, they really need to return.

I have to agree Prometheans combat style felt to annoying and repetive.

Well… All the Sentinels did was circle around you and shoot you with a single weapon while the Prometheans attacked you in a variety of different ways.
I think “frustrating” would be a better word for it than “repetitive”.
The Prometheans are anything but repetitive.

I think the proper term would be “uninteresting”. In theory, the Prometheans were fascinating, giving the player a different challenge every time they fight a different group. However, the individual Prometheans themselves were just so bland…
Watchers sat there and shot you a bit, but ran away the moment you started shooting at them. They sometimes gave shields to the Crawlers or Knights, but even then, all you had to do was poke them with a shot and they’d zoom off. They could have been improved by focusing on the support role that they’re supposed to have. They would be dedicated solely to putting up shields and throwing back grenades. They wouldn’t run away or shoot at you, they’d sit there and do their best to support their allies. Perhaps they could have multiple shields at once, or carry around some Crawlers to safety/higher ground if you were close to killing them.
The Sentinels could then return as the attacking air support. You’d have your typical flying around and shooting at you, but they could work together with the Watchers to have some very interesting combinations.
The Crawlers, on the other hand, would just strafe and shoot, or run up to you and take a munch. They sometimes ran up walls, but most of the time, they’d just sit there and try to snipe you with their Boltshots. They really should be more aggressive and mobile, jumping around, trying to sneak behind you and act in a pack. They could use a couple of Crawlers as bait to distract you with melee attacks as the other flank you and take you out at range.
The Knights were interesting in theory, but they didn’t act anything more than bullet sponges a lot of the time. I was expecting them to, once again, work together to distract you and have others teleport behind you to take you out. These guys are supposed to be smart, fast and deadly, but they ended up being no more than just mobile walls.
The Onyx Sentinels should really be a good source of inspiration for future Halo games. They would often combine to create bigger, more specialized Onyx Sentinels that fit new roles. Why not have a Promethean unit that works in similar ways? They could combine and come apart throughout the engagement. There could be different types of combinations that would take different amounts of these Prometheans, and each would have different abilities and such.
In any case, the Prometheans just weren’t as interesting and fun as they could have been, and I really hope they get expanded upon in future games.
| Hotrod, gotta say you basically hit the nail on the head. I completely agree with what you’ve said and it’s got me thinking. So here’s what I’ve came up with for possible Forerunner roles in future games.
Ground Offensive Units:
Ground Support Units:
Aerial Offensive Units:
Aerial Support Units:
Vehicle/Super Units:
Knight Espada
> The Knight Espada, a very unique variant among the Promethean Knights. Recognizable by it’s duel hardlight blade arms, and the dark yellow/orange (dark blue) markings on their face and back armor. This unit specializes in specifically CQB/C. It has the speed of a Lancer, repulser field of a Commander and armor/health of a Battlewagon. However in exchange for all this offensive power, it’s shields are completely drained. Thus leaving the extremely vulnerable to incoming fire.
Crawler Assassin
> The Crawler Assassin utilizes Forerunner camouflage technology, to infiltrate itself and it’s pack behind enemy lines. These variants often wait for opportune moments to strike with a “charged up” melee assault before retreating a few paces back. The reason for this is due to their trade of permanent invisibility for lesser health. If said primary attack fails and the unit comes under attack itself, it will switch to a Boltshot as a last resort. As ferocious as it may seem, this unit can easily be seen with Promethean Vision/VISR, and will also appear on one’s radar as multiple moving enemy signatures.
Watcher Prime
> The Watcher Prime, similar in design and role to the original, this unit has be upgraded from the rest of the Watcher units. It has a bright orange/blue glow due to it’s increased shielding and health. It also will maintain it’s position even when it’s shields are knocked out or it takes damage, and will return fire as well. Along with it’s upgraded shields, this unit will also occasionally carry a Suppressor or Lightrifle into battle.
Healer Sentinel
> This is a unique unit that’s been known to appear on shield world installations, like that of Shield 0459. As it’s name implies, this unit heals others that are within the general proximity of it’s regeneration field. It can also focus on healing one specific unit more quickly by focusing the field into a beam and directing it at the preferred unit. While the Healer has no shields it is equipped with a basic Sentinel Beam.
Constructer Sentinel Shroud
> These small and useful units come in handy for repairing any and all Forerunner emplacements and vehicles. While individually they pose no immediate threat, a shroud (7-14 units) of these however can quickly repair a disabled/damaged turret or vehicle. If prompted to do so they can even overcome the strongest of soldiers, if they’re not paying attention, with their downsized sentinel beam weaponry.
What do you all think? |
> -awesome ideas-
I love them! It’s great how you took the units from Halo Wars and incorporated them into the Promethean forces. Just those couple of extra ideas would definitely add a bunch of much needed variety and strategy to the Prometheans.
The only suggestion that I have is that it would be nice to see an extra new Knight class, maybe something that sheds the ranged weapon for another melee weapon. Who knows when jumping into a fight, slashing at a bunch of Flood, then jumping back out would be useful? It seems like an important role that the Prometheans are missing.
| Extremely happy to know you enjoyed my ideas, thank you so much! |

| I’ve added a new class just for you, called the Espada. Hope you like it. |
Sounds really good.

I really do! Espada is a clever name for it too, especially since it’s a melee focused unit.
I like those ideas keep it up

| So happy to know you do! Heh, it honestly took me a while to find something that would suit the Knight, but still keep that 18th-19th century feel to it like the Lancer and Battlewagon. |
