Bring back REQ Packs? Thoughts?

As much as REQ packs were pay to play. I like most people did not buy them. To get legendary stuff I grinded and played the game. Along with that I miss the randomness of the packs. You never know what your going to get within them. Anyone else? Also, with the current battle pass how are you supposed get armors and more importantly helmets. It’s no secret the battle pass takes forever and just to have the same kit as everyone else? Feels like call of duty’s store, bring back what made halo different. What do y’all think

I’ve been saying this to my friends ever since we played the beta.

When I got a legendary drop out of a card pack, it felt like I had something that was fun, exciting, unique, and that very few people had. It definitely made me want to collect as much rare stuff as I could because I had a unique collection. With a battle pass, I’m going to see whatever the unique item for the week is running around on the battle field donned by dozens of teenagers who have way more time than I do, and I’m going to see that happen well before I ever have a chance to earn it. Like, cool, I got the rare thing that was available for only a week, but it doesn’t feel unique or special. Just feels like I was willing to grind to get it, and I had it only after it wasn’t special anymore. Like, it really kills a lot of the excitement over the cool stuff for me.

I know the biggest gripe for the Req Packs was pay-to-play. But surely there’s a way to include some randomness and luck in the rewards scheme without providing any kinds of in-game benefits. Look at games like Apex. They have a battle pass, and they also have random drops that have a chance to give you neat cosmetics. I think a mix of the two may be a better solution than a pure battle pass.

The current system being flawed doesn’t retroactively make REQ packs a good system. All of the criticisms of that system are just as valid as they were before.

I think Reach was the best system they have ever done. Why can’t they just do that? Letting people work towards items they actually want rather than forcing them to unlock a ton of things they don’t want and will never use is a lot more rewarding and makes every credit earned feel worth it.

Bring back the Reach armoury and restore performance/participation based rewards. That would be a great improvement.

Nothing in the world was more frustrating. To this day, I have still never unlocked any variant of the Mark V helmet, my favourite Halo helmet of all time. Knowing it’s in the game but never able to attain it due to the complete randomness and dilution of Halo 5’s req packs has been utter torture.

I’d rather have the same armor permutation for a year and never unlock the Master Chief’s Mark VI helmet (which is crazy stupid) than have REQ packs

Box openings get super tedious and just drive me away from games that have them. They bring duplicates, selling, and require tons of different items in the game which you get lost in. I get tired needing to spend time on those things.

How about no, REQ packs are just the worst as it was a pay to win system and I would leave this -Yoink!- so fast when/if it gets added, this is the better way to go about it, I wish they had brought some challenges/achievements tied to unlocking armours or do it in the future as it feels a lot more like halo and we already have a store that charging 20 for an amour set, we need them to remove transactions not add more

I’ll quit the game right then and there if they put REQ packs back in. The “Halo Coins” make me furious, I’m not going to stand any more loot boxes.

Going to make a big assumption.
IF the battlepass were to be scrapped and REQ packs introduced, you’d have to farm more points, for them, or receive less points per match, so you’d in the end have to grind far more to purchase one pack.
This to make it more likely you’d spend money on them.
The little joy there was with them wouldn’t be there.
It’s that or more unusable crap along with duplicates being a possibility.

But no, fix this instead of taking back REQ packs.

I’d much prefer a system that Reach had. By earning credits (or some sort of currency) at the end of each game and having the option to use those credits to purchase armor or customization’s. Then just have unique armor sets and customization’s only obtainable through the Battle Pass. Plus to tack on to that, the Battle Pass could grant you extra credits earned each game finished.

This way you’re not forced to wait for your Battle Pass to rank up just to unlock a piece of gear (that you may not end up wanting or using anyways). Idk, just a thought I’ve had since playing the early Flights.

I’d personally rather see gambling stay in the casino’s and out of video games. Direct item purchase MTX is fine but “loot boxes” aka “gambling in disguise” isn’t ok.

I hadn’t played reach back when multiplayer was a thing and that is more of the system I was recommending. The req packs are flawed for sure, but I was mostly trying to get to the point of playing the game to earn credits to buy things instead of just earning credits from buying them. Like that’s more of what I was talking about. Someone said apex’s store and yea you can earn credits from playing but you can through the battle pass. Something like that we should aim for.

I absolutely hated REQ packs because of how much time I put into the game and how few items I got from them that I actually wanted. It was a horrible system that poorly rewarded time invested in the game.

In my Honest opinion Req Packs should never return cause it’s Gambling considering the fact you never know what your getting and the fact it’s literally set up like a lottery machine in which you can continuously throw money into but never really get what you want.

Would you quit if REQ packs came back BUT you could earn them after a game at random and they simply gave you a free item or set out of the store similar to csgo? Aswell as a system similar to halo MCC Reserves or whatever they are called so you can earn whatever store item you want aswell as getting a free gift?

Lol reqs are -Yoink!- the only way I could seriously make them sound at all appealing is just that what if they used reqs as an asset to give you gifts like when they drop free armor or free visors or free nameplates. It’s just given in a req animation thing

Short answer no Req Packs should stay in Halo 5 where the idea came from and die in the Halo 5 Graveyard.

Agreed they were never a good idea, rng is for the past

REQ packs forced me to take, not exaggerating, my entire halo 5 career to unlock odst armor. By then I had unlocked everything else and stopped playing.

REQ packs never again, please.

honestly, as long as they can’t be purchased, I wouldn’t mind it. The REQ system was more rewarding than my initial experiences with it, and never felt pressured to purchase any. But microtransactions prey on those with poor impulse control and other neuro-divergent issues, and that never sits right with me, regardless of my personal ability to ignore them.

I’d gladly take back req packs over this monstrosity. As much as I didn’t like req packs the system we have now is far, far, worse than that.
