It’s not Proximity Chat.
It allows you to hear people on the clear other side of the map.
It’s more of a “Room Chat”, and not what we had before.

I second this. If they promised Halo like it was 10 years ago, then they Promised proximity chat. Why newer games haven’t implemented this ill never know.

I’m pretty sure H2 also used to have “walkie talkie” team chat where you pressed the white button if you wanted to talk “off” proximity chat and only with your team. The combo between proximity and team chat was a great part of H2 online.

First they should add chat notification in each halo so we know who is talking. Then maybe we can get that. Besides if your argument is “They promised halo just like 10 years ago” and you want proximity chat, then you must want the voice masking back as well right?

Not sure how they’d implement that on one UI given that not all the games had that style of chat.
