Bring back pointless maps and inspired maps

Halo:CE had a good amount of maps that were just really random. They were just rooms, hallways, sometimes having no “point”. Like WTH is Hang em High supposed to be? Boarding Action: LOLWHUT? Yet Halo’s maps are really good, fun and work.

Halo:2 had maps based off campaign missions. I still remember one of the people saying how while playing on a map you could say “I kinda remember something like this”. And Halo 2 has some of the best halo MP maps ever created. So much that it’s usaully called the best in that department.

Halo:3 followed this yet just didn’t have the charm. Maps were good, However they lacked something. Fun still, Yet lacked that simple haloness. And Halo 3 had some interaction in the map but. Not on Halo 2’s level but good. I.E The Train on Terminal, The staglatins on Waterworks.

Halo:Reach just copied entire parts from the campaign. The original maps are just clones, they just got lazy really for nothing. Look at how much better the map pack maps are then the original maps? Wether they be good or bad to you they should have gone with Halo1,2,3’s formula (more on Halo1 and 2’s)

So please lets hope Halo 4 has a mix of maps that are more about fun and balance and less about saving time. Maps don’t need a story to be good, some rooms and hallways can become a legend.

Look at Blood Gulch, two simple bases and a big open level. One of the best MP maps ever made.

Look at Lock Out. Simple rooms and platforms.

Look at really any of the best and most asked for maps, Most of them are either really simple or have a good amount of fun things [zanzibar, the wheel]

And another thing bring back interactive map pieces. Like gate switches, Trains, Stalagtites, bouncy mines, wheels, and more.

Halo 2 defintly had the best maps.
Can anyone say Back in the day?

I can x100.

Forge 3.0 should have the power to create more then just walls. Create gates, give us the power to make trains/moveable objects. Halo Reach forge is amazing and really gives people the power to create amazing works of art and maps. 343i can really do better by improving it yet again.

One reason I like Reach so much is just that, the options and ability to create really gives it a lot. Alone I would give Reach a 7/10 yet with it’s amazing forge/custom games it’s a 10/10 to me.

Hopefully more color will be added to it. Grey is out of style.

Umm… the Reach multiplayer maps were created first, then merged into the campaign later during Reach’s development, but I guess I somewhat agree.

I’m hoping for an entire texture and color pallet for most/all structural objects in Halo 4.

Regardless if Halo 4’s (or any future Halo title’s) maps are based on the campaign, remakes of old maps, or created entirely new, let’s just hope they’re awesome. I have faith they will be.
