Bring back playlists permanently?

The community has been asking 343 to bring back playlists. Oddball, Shotty Snipers, King of the Hill, Juggernaut, Ricochet, Regicide, I can go on for years. 343 did give us some of these playlists but only for a limited time. Why do they do this you may ask? I believe it’s because if there are too many games modes to play, then some game modes will be left out, meaning there will be little to no population in that certain game mode. They say there was a shortage in shotty snipers, however I found that every time I loaded up shoty snipes, I’d always find a game. BUT WAIT. When I load up ffa, it says," Locating spartans" most the time. Point is, even if there is a low amount of people playing a certain game type, that doesn’t mean you should completely get rid of it. The little population that game type is now upset that their game mode is gone. Also, oddball has returned but it’s only going to stay for a couple weeks. WHY? Let the game types be permanent. Back in halo 3 there were so many game types to play that was PERMANENT. I strongly feel that it should be the same for halo 5. Just think if 343 brought back all the game modes we could ever dream of and they weren’t going to take it away after a certain amount of time, I’m sure a lot of us would be happy.

This is NOT hate towards 343, I just think if 343 would listen to the community more Halo 5 would be in a better place, and btw thanks for reading my topic!

i remember the days of playing just capture the flag for hours

You’re confusing gametypes and playlists. No one is asking for gametypes like Oddball, King of the Hill, Juggernaut or Regicide to have permanent playlists. Single gametype playlists were tried in Halo 4 and quickly merged into multi-gametype playlists because the population was meh.

You might have always found a match in Shotty Snipers but that doesn’t mean the population was good enough to keep it, hence why it has been removed nearly every time it is added. I hope the removal of BTB maps in this version of Ranked Snipers increases the population so it sticks longer than the July-August 2017 season but I’m not hopeful.

Fair play on FFA - that playlist is in dire need of a rework (even more than what was just released yesterday). They did recently change the matchmaking on FFA to allow players to find games before it times out, so you should see “Locating Spartans” a lot less.

Because an Oddball playlist is just silly when we can easily put it in Social Skirmish. Like I mentioned above, single gametype playlists were tried and tested in Halo 4 and performed horribly. There’s a reason they weren’t a thing until Halo 4 either, even Bungie knew they were terrible and made an Objective playlist.

Probably because Halo 3 managed to hold hundreds of thousands players three years into its launch while Halo 5 struggles to reach those numbers not even two years into its launch. Having a ton of playlists would be cool but the more you introduce, the more fragmented the player base gets and as a result, slower matchmaking times in all playlists.

I’d prefer they just rotated playlists in more often and keep bringing back the fan favourites rather than have month long periods without them.

Ideally going forward, we will have more gametypes at the games launch so we can have an Objective playlist ready from the get go and people can play modes like King of the Hill, Oddball, Stockpile, etc in there and hopefully other fun modes like Juggernaut and Regicide can have a health population in the custom games browser.

@The Little Moa Thx for the reply! I agree with what you said, “I’d prefer they just rotated playlists in more often and keep bringing back the fan favourites rather than have month long periods without them.” I think that would be a better thing 343 could do. Now that I think about it, it would fragment the population even more, guess I was just sad to see game types I love so much just be “in rotation” but I now see that it is the only option because of the player population.

With sustain dwindling down as the teams move onto the next Halo title, I was hoping they would build a set of dope playlists that would rotate in and out every week. It kind of looks like they are doing that but there needs to be a few more still.

Feel free to use the MM feedback thread to leave your suggestions there.
