Was trying to find the current thread but I think this should keep being said. See hundreds maybe thousands of post for this one thing since reach and why it still hasn’t happened is quite disappointing.
in before the lock.
I still think it is dumb to have to go to Halo 5 forum for a thread that was made back in Halo 4 that only fell on deaf ears (or blind eyes), you know the one that 343 industries gave no heed to when making Halo 5.

343’s track record reminds me of a college class
First project they received a D+ on.
Second was a fat F due to launch.
The third was a shallow C … Maybe a C+ after adding the features that should have shipped with the game.
So far though, it seems like they are reaaaally trying to nail this one and get an A. I can appreciate that effort.

I really believe they’re making decisions carefully this time. I’d be willing to bet playable elites will be back.

third one was a D in which they begged for Extra Credit to get their grades up.
I really want playable elities to come back, so many have been asking for it. Invasion was so fun on it.
Well as I said in another thread this is the list of characters and which one should be playable and which ones should be not.
Key:
non-playable character
playable character
forge avatar
So first the UNSC

Navy Crewman/ civilians/ workers/ scientists Now while a combat support role might be interesting and administrative support role would not. We don’t play halo to act like scard clerk hiding under the desk, well most of us don’t. - Marines and Armored Marines, Army, Police, Corp. Security Now while to some these might be the most relatable guys out there, face it when playing a game and the power fantasy we would rather pick an elite. Besides ODST are Marines first then they become the ODST. IF needed we can include basick marine cosmetics in the ODST cosmetic pool. - ODST We played these guys before, why keep them only in one game. Heck we could even do ODST firefight or asymmetrical matches such as ODST vs Brutes (more ODSTs than Brutes though). - Spartans (all generations) This one is obvious but I am repeating that the Campaign and co-op ones should be the larger Spartan 2s while multiplayer can be the smaller 4th generation. - Navy Officers, UNSC/UEG V.I.P. While playing as a commander might be interesting these guys would be no more than fancy dressed civilians. - AI Constructs This would be a bit too difficult to do, I don’t know what you could do other than act as some sort of commander or pilot a huge vehicle like a vulture. Save it for Halo Wars 3_Now the Covenant (encompassing all remnants and breakaway factions_

Grunts While some might think it is funny to play (and die) as the lowest cast member of the totem pole I think the agency that would be taken away from the player makes playing as these little guys just not practical. Save it for mods if a machinima needs them that much. - Jackals (and Skirmishers) Similar to Grunts although it would be nice to use their hardlight shield as a tool using dual wielding mechanics(hope they make a comeback) I don’t see them as something I want to play as. - Elites The whole topic of the thread. Yes, give them regenerating shields and health. Make them scary again - Hunters These guys make a decent mini-boss and incredible allies (we only had that awesome experience once) they are too rigid in their equipment to be playable characters - Brutes I made a thread on this but apparently it was supposed to go to the H5 forum. Give them their unique power armor system from H3. - Drones Characters that are too far from humanoid wouldn’t make good avatars (more on Forge mode though). Give us a jet pack and we will be fine. - Prophets A good boss character although it is unlikely we will see these guys again. - Engineer So this is both bold and italic meaning that while I don’t think it is suitable as a multiplayer avatar as it isn’t a humanoid enough of a figure, I do see it as potential for a Forge Avatar much like the monitors. Also cosmetic options for monitors could be interesting. So characters that are both bold and italic are ones that I think make suitable forge mode avatars instead of playable avatars.Flood

Infection Form Pop, seriously between just one of these guys or even controlling a whole swarm I think it is just a little too much. - Combat Form (all species) The one thing 343 nailed in giving credit where credit was due is to make the zombie forms infected Spartans in infection game type. I would put them in but instead of shields or regeneration health I would give them a health system that is like having the Black Eye Skull turned on. So helt regen only on Melees and melee kills. - Carrier Form much like infection forms, just wouldn’t work - Pure Form a little bit better than infection forms but again lacking on the humanoid features - Gravemind/protogravemind a good boss fight but not a playable avatar_Forerunner_

Constructors The Civilians of the Sentinels. While seeing these little guys make a return could be interesting, I don’t think they are suitable even asa forge avatar despite their name. - Sentinels This could be the starting avatar for Forge mode. - Enforcers While I want to see the big guys from Halo 2 make a return, I do not want to play as them. - Monitor The classic Forge avatar, bring them back, heck any floaty building thing could be a good forge avatar (except constructors) - Promethean Crawler non-humanoid mechanical form, nah. - Promethean Knight Someone already did a thread on these guys. But yeah a human consciousness implanted in a machine would be interesting. - Promethean Watcher forge editor - Eternal Warden nah this guy was lameNow someone did suggest that the USNC bumblebee recon drones and camera drones could be used as forge avatars in editor mode. Although it would be hard to explain how those little things could just materialize a large box and manipulate it around.
Ever since spartan and Elite playermodels became more and more different in terms of height and hitboxes we have seen no playable elites. For this to work they will either have to limit it to a few gamemodes, or redraw playermodels in such a way that each model poses no advantage over the other. I am really hoping for playable Elites, hopefully we can see some really good armor customization for elites too.
