Bit of a weird decision to get rid of it, no?
I find myself missing it a lot in BTB where I see them completely ignored on weapon racks because frankly there’s not much reason to pick them up. Most of the time attempting a noob combo isn’t worth it.
Shock weapons now do EMP’s. They’re giving you more options to neutralise vehicles rather than having EMP’s rely on a single weapon.
Let’s not forget the plasma pistol didn’t EMP until Halo 3 onwards.
In Infinite you have multiple “shock type” weapons that will be able to stop vehicles in their tracks & Dynamo grenades too. Many weapons we’ve not even had hands on with yet.
We’ve also got equipment like the Repulsor & Grapple that are good vehicles counters.
Honestly I’m happy with the change, I think it actually opens up more anti vehicle options.
The plasma pistol is a noob combo main weapon now to be honest. It’s decent in the right hands. Even pea shooting it isn’t a bad option. Plasma is anti shield now, not anti vehicle.
I don’t see why they can’t do both. It’s sad seeing all those plasma pistols just sitting in the racks at spawn never to be used.
Yeah, I agree. It feels weird not being able to emp anything after being used to it for so many years. this’ll definitely take some time getting used to, if they decide to keep it like this at release

I wish more people would look at it like this. I may be part of a very small minority here but I already feel like Halo 3 especially already had so many anti vehicle things that the EMP introduced into the Plasma Pistol in it just p*ssed me off tbh lmao. I’m glad to see they’re moving away from it. I’ve actually racked up a few kills with the primary fire too, would love to see it return to CE levels of buffed up, wishful thinking maybe 
Lol wait they took that away too? What are they thinking with this sandbox? It’s like the goal is to make any game but a Halo game at this point.
I find the plasma pistol to be nearly useless as it stands.
I think plasma pistol was the best option when it came to disabling vehicles. The Shock rifle is absurdly good at disabling vehicles (and at long range too) even if it takes 2-3 shots. I completely ruined someone in a wasp by continuously spamming the shock rifle from across the map. The Plasma pistol took some skill to time the charged bolts for flying vehicles at least. If anything the Shock weapons should be nerfed a little.
The Plasma Pistol is supposed to EMP, but it’s bugged in the build we’re playing on. Unless somebody else can explain why the Spartan-level AI in Academy keep shooting overcharged shots at my Ghost.

But like, what’s the point of going out of your way to kill someone with a weak pistol when you can arguably kill faster by just spraying them down with the AR?
It needs to EMP. It’s been an essential part of the sandbox for 14 years.

Yeah that is a good point. The AR is pretty good at burst dps. So much so that weapons like the plasma pistol basically don’t have the impact it should.
The only nerf to the AR I’m willing to let slide is a slight reduction to shield damage. ONLY, if. The kind of a Last resort kinda deal. Unshielded damage should remain the same.

No plasma pistol emp really sux especially in regular Slayer on Bohemith it feals like there aren’t enough anti-vehicles options on that map
