I like that idea but I don’t think XP matters much as the armor offerings are not as enticing like Reach/HALO3/HALO4 days.
The free to play has messed up multiplayer in a big way. I would like to see lobbies for those who bought the game and/or gamerscore of +5k. Also crossplay disabled lobbies would be a godsend.
Yeah they implement quit bans but do not punish AFKers. This is absolutely insane. But all these have nothing to do with not blocking party teams from maching against random. This should be brought back ASAP as it’s ruining the game.
I don’t blame people for going AFK or quitting out against full teams. There’s no incentive to play when it ends up being a one sided stomping… and when that ends up being a majority of the games you play people just give up (it’s not fun and there’s almost a 0% chance their team will win). Most people would just get off the game at that point. I experimented recently by making fresh tags with no experience and for my first game the accounts matched full teams. Imagine that being the experience for new or returning players to the game… this is why people don’t play the game (not to mention those teams being super toxic and beating / shooting bodies - you can see them doing that on Twitch since a few of them stream).
Did you accidentally stumble into the MCC forums? Both you and the other poster seem to be describing Infinite, not MCC. MCC has input based matchmaking in Social.
I blame someone completely for AFKing. If you want to have fun and play the game with no stress at all, Action Sack exists and should be played!
The reality is everyone wants to steamroll, nobody wants to be steamrolled.
Imagine instead of putting your controller down and throwing a hissy fit because you matched a team, you take the time to learn something from the game you played. Dust off, and queue again.
It would be frustrating if it happened over and over and over again - I strongly suggest adding team matching back into Social, and only removing that requirement after a long queue with no other available matches.
The majority of people want balanced games going off what players enjoyed the most historically and what made Halo fun IMO. I don’t know any players that think steamrolling low skilled or unskilled players searching solo while in a team of 4 is fun tbh.
It does. What if your teammates are in the same party and their guests are afk?
I agree that going up against a full team isn’t fun, but simply going afk makes the problem worse. Instead trying to fight back, you’re not doing anything. You’re essentially downing your team a man.
True, this is one of the most unsporting things I’ve seen when someone’s loosing. (Just have a look at the spartan code)
“You can’t win ‘em all, but for the sake of your team you should always try.”
“Experience earned while idle will be considered manipulation of the ranking system.”
If you try, even if you lose, most of the time you will earn the respect of the enemy team.
I play consistently enough to where I simply tell the other team I am playing for XP and to show respect, and usually I get it. If they decide to BM then you report them and move on.
True, there’s no point to start a discussion with trolls “they’ll always win”. I do exactly the same, ignore and report.
I don’t care to be respected by people abusing the system. They can simply go play ranked, but sit in casual just to stomp others and ruin their games. I don’t care to be respected by that kind of players.
Yup. It looks like I did. Yoink!
Here’s another problem:
1.- Ranked is dead
2.- Halo MCC’s population is pretty low
3.- Most of the regular players are experienced players
Perhaps social matchmaking is the “new ranked” and CGB is the “new social” (?). Any suggestions on how to address the problem where unskilled players are being beaten by experienced players. I have one, but I want to hear from you first.
Note: Removing party restrictions will partially solve the problem as other players may do smurfing, thus making imbalanced matches anyways.
We don’t need penalties in social matchmaking, period.
Sounds like Halo Custom Edition, full of players using aimbot/cheats without consequences.
Ok, so how to deal with the trolls, afkers, griefers, and smurfs? And as some people have mentioned here, with respect to quitting, they should be banned if they have excessive quits. Moreover, you shouldn’t be worry about it if you don’t do any of these unsporting actions.
And as mentioned before, removing party matching will partially solve the problem with the current state of matchmaking. This would make some progress, although there are more issues to address behind it.
#1 (partially) & #2 are a result of bad decisions done by 343 by removing party matching (aka restrictions) which killed off the population. People (new players and veterans) aren’t going to play the game due to constantly unfair matchups against full teams. I know a large amount of good players and they lost interest in the game a long time ago due to that. A good amount of them would probably spend time playing the game if party matching was back and/or quit bans were removed so they can quit out of games against full teams. Until matchmaking is fixed any other issues you have are moot because they’re not the primary reason people don’t play the game.
Another reason why the ranked TS population is dead is because every game you have someone boosting a fresh level 1 tag paired with a much higher level (20s-30). That’s why I stopped playing it several years ago… I try it every 6-12 months or so and run into the same experience. The population is too low so no one bothers playing TS either because you run into those unfair matchups with one team boosting. They’d have to prevent boosting new tags and limiting the rank/level difference by 5 levels or something… I don’t see that happening. If they at least fix the issue with social you’ll see a population increase which may lead to more people playing ranked but not by much probably (and with the constant boosting and mostly bad players in ranked I don’t have much hope for that playlist to ever be populated).
I disagree with this.
Some quick examples where penalties ought to exist in Social Matchmaking.
If someone quits multiple games a day on purpose over a long period of time,
or consistently AFKs,
or deletes maps so they dont load,
or consistently betrays teammates,
or aimbots/hacks,
or spams racial slurs.
