Bring back party restrictions for casual

There is no point in matching a team of randoms against a premade team of 4. And of course you can’t quit because BaNs. You have to sit there and get stomped. I have been matched against premades for at least 5 consecutive matches. You just ruined an hour of my play time (again!) for no apparent reason. Please return to logic.

Completely agree. As a temporary fix, you can block one of them on Xbox and you’ll no longer match up against whoever you blocked (and most likely the others on the team since they’d all be playing together).

Agreed party matching needs to return. Or at the very least a solo +splitscreen(maybe) option in the composer. Only full stackers too cowardly to face other full stacks would be against these changes

When they removed party matchmaking (which prevented teams of 3 and 4 players to match 4 solo players) it was certain to kill the game. Slowly but surely it wore down the population to the point no one wanted to search social solo anymore. Most people from the MCC H3 community don’t have the time to put together teams nor do they want to stomp 4 solo players because it’s EXTREMELY boring and takes no skill… the majority of people just want to hop on for a few quick games while solo and get off. 343 made the game virtually unplayable for both seasoned and casual gamers as the majority of people don’t party up and make-up the majority of players. People opted to just not play the game than to constantly run into full teams and get stomped which is why the game is mostly a ghost town and you won’t find hardly any highly skilled players searching social solo (as it’s a miserable experience as you constantly match full teams). The remnants of the community that are skilled who still play this game are playing ranked which also has a very low population (I remember when 343 made it so that full teams can match 4 solo players in H3 TS… people just completely stopped searching because there was this one team of 4 always matching 4 solos at night). Prior to party matchmaking being removed basically everyone on both teams played the match and there were infinitely fewer quit outs… as everyone knew you were only going up against a team of 2 at the maximum and that’s very manageable.

OR just remove quit bans from all social playlists. They have no reason to exist.

Prior to party matching being removed the possibility of either team winning was a lot closer to 50/50 than it is now… after it was removed your likelihood of losing as a solo player became closer to 100% as you constantly would match sweaty teams of 3 and 4 players. Given almost none of the highly skilled players search social solo anymore due to this change the team of solo players nowadays gets completely obliterated by the full teams. This experience is repeated to the point any new and old players get off the game out of frustration due to the unfairness/lack of balance and play something else with the majority not giving the game another chance again. The only way to make the game enjoyable and even remotely playable again would be to impose the original matchmaking restrictions (party matching). It would certainly bring back people to the game who left Halo altogether and it would encourage both casual and skilled players to play the game again (and to search social again).

If they aren’t going to re-add party matching they should remove quit bans in at least the social playlists (if not all playlists). It doesn’t stop people from quitting out now or just going AFK (away from controller/keyboard) when matching full teams anyway. I tried social again and ran into many instances everyone quit out against full teams or people went AFK.

Quit bans never stopped quitting, all it did was hurt population numbers.

What about if they implement reputation system instead of the quit ban system? For example, players could get XP deducted if they leave (and count the game as a loss). Moreover, players with low reputation could get matched with other players in the same condition. And not betraying/going afk/quitting would make these players recover their reputation.

It’s just as bad in Big Team. Parties of 8 get on and stomp all the randoms. The playlist is pretty well populated but as soon as one of these teams gets on, the playlist dies.

The fundamental problem is removing party matching ruined the casual/social experience for the majority of players (as the majority are solo) and this led to significant population die off over time. Many players stopped playing the game altogether or at least stopped searching social. The full teams that search almost always wait before searching to avoid matching one another as well (at least in 4v4, which can be seen on Twitch). They’re not trying to play balanced matches but instead just stomp on all of the solo / non-partied players (as a result those players stop searching/get off the game). A reputation system isn’t going to convince people to not quit or go AFK in the constantly unfair matchups against full teams. The only thing that’s going to encourage people to play is to have at least somewhat fair and balanced matches and under the current system that’s impossible given the low skill level of most of the players left searching social individually. The majority of highly skilled players gradually stopped searching social solo after party matching was taken out. Ideally they would take out quit bans and not penalize people for quitting though if they want to deduct experience that’s fine. At least it would allow people to not waste their time in the constant unfair matchups and hopefully find the rare game that’s actually a decent match and fun - two things MCC is devoid of currently but had in abundance back when party matching was still enforced.

The 4v4 playlist used to be well populated overnight (throughout the early AM hours). These teams effectively cleared out the game overnight as well. Everyone I knew that grinded the game solo day or night stopped playing the game altogether as well. I can’t blame people for quitting the game but part of me hopes 343 still does something to address this as I miss playing Halo and I know more people would return to playing the game again.

I play solo and even though I don’t use a Mike if 4 randoms know what to do when & why it can still work.
My issues is with high ranks playing wither “their silver ranked friends” on another account just to boost rank and dominate”

Combine this with a team of four and it’s no fun at all

Of course it can still work and it does…in 1 out of 10 matches.

It also doesn’t help when they get into objective games and just play slayer making the game last as long as possible.

Absolutely this. The quit bans do nothing to stop people from quitting. I have not seen any change in rate of quitters since they were buffed up.

The strong quit bans do however incentivize players to just go play something else.

I’d venture to guess most of us still playing the older Halos are older now and have lives beyond just playing games. Sometimes we need to put the game down and tend to family. It’d be nice to not be punished for that when playing a casual game.

It’s a combination of both, the enemy team is competitive while your teammates do their worst, at a point where they betray you sometimes (when searching solo).

Well, that’s not partially true. When they implemented quit bans in FFA games, such as infection (which doesn’t make sense), the quit rate was considerably reduced. However, most of the time players that wanted to quit were going afk instead. I repeat, the quit bans on FFA games doesn’t make any sense.

It’s truly amazing how older Halo games have more players that manipulate spawns and farm to increase their K/D.

I’m plenty guilty of doing this and when it happens to me it’s extremely frustrating.

Probably why CSR and SBMM have been ramped way up in Halo 5 and now Halo Infinite.

It’s one thing to know the spawns.
Its something totally different to farm players.

People not completing the objective to farm kills on players is bannable, per the Spartan Code 343 holds.
