I feel like it’s crazy that 343 did away with the yellow shields that have been in every Halo game since CE if I recall correctly.
Also, would love to have HUD options that can let us make the interface a bit more like previous halo games, such as the ability to switch the white crosshair for a blue one the same as the other HUD elements. Maybe an ammo counter, etc.
I swear if someone says, “Just set enemy outlines to yellow…”
The shields being the same color as the outlines makes for a very unreadable experience. It’s harder to see when a player is damaged or when their shields pop when there is little if any contrast.

its not unreadable. The only issue really is that there is no flair up indicating the shields overall damage. Well there is but its short and no where as visable as prior games. However, it is very readable on where you hit your target and whether or not you hit them. The best fix imo is to keep the system they have but add an overlay effect similar to H3 that builds up as they take damage to indicate a shields overall health.

Where you hit them, sure, you get to see the area flair up to show which damage zone was hit, but it doesn’t give you very readable information about how damaged the shields are on a player that you didn’t shoot, or whom you happen across. It’s unreadable because there is almost no shield build up effect like the one you mentioned.
Fully agree. I would go a step further and state how you should be able to choose modern or classic for a HUD. They should be customizable and scalable as well.
