His music added so much more flavor to the gameplay and nostalgic experience, his music was amazing in Destiny & wish that 343 could get him back for a future project at least.
The music we got in Halo 4 and Spartan Assault was just as good as O’Donnell’s, I don’t think he is necessary for delivering good music moving forward.

I totally agree with you on this one. O’donnell added so much to the franchise. I think that he has had a bit of a tough time with the series and am sad to say that I don’t think he will come back.

Sorry to get off topic, but how did you get such a high rank in such a small window of time? Do your old posts count on the forums as rank?
All Halo 5 needs is Halo’s theme song, Truth and Reconciliation Suite. FANTASTIC
I admire Halo 4 for breaking the mold and going in a different direction with its music. But overall I felt it lacking. And the opening screen just reminds me of the Battlestar Galactic remake… I keep waiting for the heavy drums to kick in. Whether Marty is the answer or the same dude from 4 is, I feel like they should take the music in a different direction.
The music in Halo 4 wasn’t as good as Marty’s. However, the music writers are being switched up and Marty isn’t involved. Doesn’t mean we can’t have epic music or the Halo theme in the game.
As much as I love Marty, I like having other composers take a fresh swing at the score. I also want him to move on to composing for more than just games, so this may clip his wings.
According to a reddit user on Halo, at a music college he attends Marty was a guest speaker recently. When asked what he is doing post-termination, he responded with “working on a project with some old friends.” I have no way to know if this is true, and it’s buried deep within the Halo reddit, so don’t expect me to dig it up, but I just thought I’d mention it. Take it with a barrel of salt, though. But boy would it be nice if he meant it was with “old friends” at 343 and Microsoft.
It would be interesting to see Marty and Neil work together.

The new composers have done a great job, Davidge’s compositions have even left a nostalgic mark in my memory. Marty is a huge part of Halo’s legacy, but he isn’t needed.
343i really needs to work on better implementing the OST though. Halo 4 botched that.
Both Neil Davidge and Kazuma Jinnouchi (via Twitter and Facebook) have already confirmed that Kazuma Jinnouchi will be the lead composer for Halo 5. Kazuma Jinnouchi already posted a few pictures of the recording sessions for Halo 5: Guardians as well as some sheet music. In case anyone doesn’t know who Kazuma Jinnouchi is, he was the co-composer for Halo 4, and composed about half the music with tracks such as “117”. Kazuma usually words with Nobuko Toda, who also was an orchestrator on Halo 4. I’m guessing that she’ll take the spot as co-composer/additional composer.
That would be awesome to see Marty working with halo again!!!

I have to disagree. Halo 4’s music didn’t have that “Halo” feel to it.

No, it didn’t, but it was memorable in its own right. Haven, Revival, and Nemesis are three OSTs that i never get tired of listening to. With that said, i do agree that we need more “Halo-y” sounds. We don’t need O’Donnell back, we need someone who understands his music, and who can score music as equally familiar, all the same.
Maybe in Halo 6… maybe, but H5:G is already going in some new directions, so it makes sense if the musical direction follows. Besides, I loved Halo 4’s music. As a matter of fact, I’ll be listening to the soundtrack while I do my homework tonight.
i think it would be cool if marty made more music for halo
I thought that halo 4 music was really good in all.The idea of o’donnell coming back would give halo 5 a well needed experience to the gameplay.
He could be a freelancer look at Uematsu the composer for Final Fantasy he is doing it too so why not Marty?

You obviously don’t have a keen ear for music then!
Having said that, O’Donell’s style would not suit the new direction Halo is being taken. The new games have that feel of ‘generic sci-fi’, I’m not saying that’s a bad thing but it has seemingly taken away some of Halo’s previous depth and icon. Nevertheless; with a new style of game there must be a new style regarding musical direction
