His music is the soul of these games, and the opportunity for him to make music for them again is there as far as I’m concerned. Be smart Microsoft.
He’s not a puppet, and this has to be the millionth thread on the subject.
EDIT:
Lol, “Be Smart”, it isn’t your place to decide what Marty O’Donnel wants. Get real.
I’m noticing a pattern with all of these “bring X person back”, and that’s that they entirely discount the fact that hiring someone is a process that goes both ways. A company doesn’t just choose to hire someone, that person has to be interested as well and we have no indication that Marty is interested.
One good thing about Destiny was the music…
I would not be surprised if Microsoft approached him to help with the music in some capacity for the Halo games, but as Eben has pointed out we’ve heard nothing that he’s actually interested
Let him do his own thing. Marty has been composing music for Sci-Fi shooters for over two years now, Give the man a break.
Besides, Halo 4’s music wasn’t even bad. It was very well composed, Just not well implemented.
While I’d love for 343 Industries to hire Marty to work on the score for Halo games, it just doesn’t seem feasible at the moment. There’s no word of him expressing any interest in working with Halo again. And chances are he wants to work on something different. Maybe after a few years working on different projects, Marty could return to work on Halo’s music with 343i.
Hopefully they would treat him better than lolBungie.
Everytime I see these threads I facepalm. Yes, I do hope that Marty returns but it is up to him to return to Halo. You can’t just force him back to Halo.
Another one of these?
To be honest, I don’t want Marty back just to spite people by this point.
Besides, H5’s current composer (Jinnouchi somethingorother) did the best tracks from H4’s score, which was great. This is a good thing.
Although I wouldn’t oppose the prospect of 343i hiring Marty, I’m quite intent with Kazuma.
PUHLEEEEZZZ !!! I DONT KNOW ABOUT MARTY BUT 343 PLEASE BRING THAT HALO MUSIC BACK !!! IV BEEN A HALO FAN EVER SINCE COMBAT EVOLVED. THAT ICONIC MUSIC WITH THE MONKS CHANTING IS THE SOUL OF THE SERIES. HALO IS NOT HALO WITHOUT IT !!! THAT IS THE FIRST THING THAT STRUCK ME ABOUT HALO 4 … I LOVED THE GAME BUT IT FELT … INCOMPLETE … FOR LACK OF A BETTER TERM.
IM NOT DISSING THE COMPOSERS OF HALO 4 … THEYRE EXTREMELY GOOD AT THEIR OWN RIGHT … BUT HALO 4 FELT KIND OF DARK … IT DIDNT PUMP ME UP LIKE THE OTHER GAMES WHEN THAT MUSIC AND THOSE DRUMS KICK IN IN THE MIDDLE OF A FIGHT … JUST PLAY THE MJOLNIR MIX AND UL KNO WAT IM TALKING ABOUT. THAT MUSIC GOT ESTABLISHED WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME, JUST LIKE MASTER CHIEF AND HIS GREEN SUIT … A RED OR BLUE MASTER CHIEF JUST DOESNT CUT IT, EVEN THO IT MIGHT LOOK GOOD.
I ALSO WAS WONDERING IF THE MUSIC IS COPYRIGHT TO MARTY OR SOMETHING … EVEN IF HE DOESNT COME BACK, CANT THE OTHER COMPOSERS USE THAT MUSIC AND THEME ??? IN HALO 4 THEY COMPLETELY DISREGARDED IT AND THEREFORE IT DIDNT FEEL COMPLETELY LIKE HALO.
THINK SOUNDTRACKS OF BACK TO THE FUTURE, A-TEAM, STAR WARS, INDIANA JONES AND UL GET MY POINT !!!
THE ORIGINAL THEME IS ICONIC AND INSTANTLY RECOGNIZABLE AND I REALLY BELIEVE IT SHOULD NOT BE LEFT OUT OF ANY HALO GAME !!!
Entitlement disorders versus Video Game Music taaaaake… I lost count.

The darkness might have been what they were going for, but don’t tell me that the music in the last leg of Midnight didn’t have you pumped. I don’t know what the track is called, but it worked really well.
Also, you might want to tone down the caps. Some might regard it as spam.

no but its not memorable either. i can’t remember any thing from the track except the menu song.
Nah, Kazuma Jinnouchi (Halo 4, 117) and Tom Salta (Spartan Assault) managed to capture the Halo feel nicely and I want more of them.

And example that proves my point; Halo 4’s music wasn’t implemented well and as a result, No one remembers it.
You know, I would like to see him come back to Halo, his music really helped with the atmosphere of the game, and while Halo 4’s soundtrack was good and epic and all, it just didn’t give anything resembling that feeling that Halo used to give, and I think the game was a bit diminished because of it. I WOULD like to see him return, but…
At the same time, I also want to see him find success on his own now, doing TV or movies or something, as anybody in either industry with half a brain that has the power to hire him if they realize he’s available would almost definitely take him in. I loved his work on Halo, but I’d like to see him become a big mainstream name like Hans Zimmer or something like that. We know he deserves it.
I’d also love to see what he would do outside of his comfort zone. He’s been doing Gregorian-style music for a long time and I’d like to see what he’d do without the Halo safety net, to see if he has some real flexibility.

Salta also did the music for CEA.
I think Kazuma Jinnouchi knows what he’s doing.
As great as Marty is, Neil Davidge did a more than good enough job with Halo 4 and I would be happy to see him return.
