IMO it was mostly an issue when you wanted to play a specific gamemode.
Lord knows Im missing it now when I play Action Sack…

Varient/map voting would make Action Sack AMAZING! Then 343i could use that data to know which games they should keep out of the sack!

It…didn’t start until Reach, or did you start with Reach/MCC?

False…I am pretty sure map voting started in H3. And H1 & H2 had map vetoing in multiplayer/system link

No. Halo 3 had map vetoing, Reach began map voting. You got what you got in Halo 2.
Im pretty split about voting.
A part of me wants it back.
The same part of me that wants join in progress removed.

When players get to play the maps they want, they are more likely to return to (or continue) playing the game. And when players return, it increases the likelihood they will purchase a micro transaction (I.e. req packs). It would be good business sense in that way to bring it back.
Personally I am sick of playing Truth (and it’s variants) and if I never play it again I would be happy, so I’d love to vote it out. I also don’t play playlists with it as much as a result. However I have a Halo addiction and have moved on to Husky Raid and Warzone so 343 is taking my money either way lol
I don’t think voting should return, but I definitely think that a veto system should. It worked well in Halo 3.

Well the first halo didn’t have a online mode, As for Halo 2 there was no voting system. Halo 3 had a veto system which all it did is you had the choice between the map at play or a random one that you didn’t know. I prefer the Reach system which had the voting system but there are criticism that certain maps and game modes were preferred over other ones and that tend to limit the different types of maps and game modes.
I would say something between H3 and Reach might be the best. Instead of having 3 choices and a mulligan (which totals up to 6 chances to map-mode fish) maybe there should be only 2 choices with one mulligan that brings it to a total of 4 in which only 2 can be viewed at a time. That way the map-mode fishing is nerfed because there is less of a chance a team block can fish out a specific map and mode to play and if the 2nd most popular map is present in the 1st selection, there is no guarantee that the 1st most popular map would be in the 2nd set which is the final set.
I’d rather not have map voting in the game… it definitely leads to the same maps/gametypes being played over and over again. for example swordbase in reach… i like the map, but i ended up voting against it, bc it was played so often. and most of the time it was no use to vote against it, bc the majority still voted for it.
veto can lead to a similar result, since the less popular maps will be avoided more likely and i enjoy playing diferent maps, even if they are not so popular.
i think the way MCC handles it is good, since i’m not playing the same map two times in a row. i think it can happen, but the algorythm behind the matchmaking system tries to avoid it

Just curios, but why do you think vetoing is better than voting?

I think that’s a great suggestion!

We can provide 343 with data on which maps/modes are unpopular.

Doubtful… Being forced to play the same map over, over is why I needed a break because I got sick of seeing maps like Valhalla all the time…despite there being a lot of maps in MCC. It’s like I love Headlong in Halo 2 but I wouldn’t expect to play the same map over, over unless we were playing custom games. As much as I like certain maps it would get pretty boring playing the same few maps all the time.
Map voting has nothing to do with REQ packs and I refuse to pay for them. Anyway once I hit 152 I avoided Halo 5 so anything that happens in Halo 5 doesn’t really interest me since I didn’t like the game. Removing map voting in all Halo games is probably one of the good things 343i has done and they even gave fans the choice to find players in custom games too, MCC is due for it too with the custom games browser.
I’m glad map voting is gone.
Just playing devils advocate, not having vote or veto will cause game quitting. I understand join in progress will fill the spots, but yeesh

Having quit penalty’s should decrease this and if they have custom games browser then that should keep the few ‘vote’ people happy that only want to play 1-2 maps. Plus the more common they quit…the longer the quit penalty. As for people putting up with veto/votes…the same can be said for people who are sick of seeing the same maps get voted/vetoed all the time since there more likely to quit, end up playing something else…it’s basically why I got tired of MCC for a while then they thankfully finally removed the awful vote/veto system.
I like the idea of the voting/ veto system but in reality from my experience it lead to a few maps and game variants getting played way more often then others. I’m a person who likes CTF and when that was going up against a more popular map it would hardly ever get selected.
Another thing was if a certain map and or game type wasn’t picked, some players would instantly quit out leading to lop-sided teams which is never any fun in most cases.
in short, on paper it sounds great but unfortunately doesn’t work out the way it’s intended.

Basically, yeah.
Make it a on-basis thing. You cant vote for stuff in slayer or for stuff like Arena, but stuff like Action Sack which has a bunch of game modes people aren’t super huge fans of…

Thank you!
The only reason I want map voting back in is so I’m not study playing the same map 3-5 matches in a row. It’s rather annoying
