My renewed love for Halo Infinite sadly died the day they decided to remove Last Spartan Standing after nearly 4 months straight, amid a season called “Lone Wolves”. I just don’t feel like playing anything else. And after 4 months can you really blame me?
IMO, If just a dozen people like a mode then you should keep it. Cause not only was I playing Halo Infinite again, I was buying stuff from the shop when I otherwise wouldn’t have.
So I’m hard pressed to see how removing it ultimately helps anything because me (and I have to assume others like me) aren’t moving on to Team Doubles, we’re moving on to other games with our time and $.
Also the people who play BR games is a HUGE number of gamers. LSS was at least a way for Infinite to attract those types of players to Halo. Then they may end up sticking around, buying stuff from the shop etc.
There is literally only upside. No downside at all.
For starters, I don’t buy either of those excuses. And that’s all they are too, excuses. Name another mode that got axed after nearly 4 months straight?
Point is it was a great mode for Halo to have for BR fans. Which we can all agree is a huge freaking number of gamers. Probably the most. So, it’s makes negative sense for 343 to have removed this mode.
LSS was not for me then again I am not a huge fan of FFA due to all the third party kills, combine that with only have six lives and it was not that fun to me, just super sweaty with too many people sitting off in the corners hiding waiting to pick off weak players.
In the past it was about bringing temporary variety to attract people to play again.
Right now it’s more about game engine stability. When they fix the game engine issues, they can add more playlists. But they’re going to need a better UI first.
The Reach matchmaking UI was Goated. Sub lists ftw
Attrition was only a thing for like a couple weeks when it debuted with the Cyber Showdown event. Then it was added in as a possible game mode you could randomly get in other playlists. And it wasn’t even fully axed you can still play it in Team Doubles rn - well, the Dodgeball variant of it.
Not like LSS which had it’s own dedicated playlist for nearly 4 months straight and was the mode of the season. Which is still actively going on.
Blame 343 for putting out a game so unfinished and unappealing that it failed to retain a healthy player base able to support a wide arrange of game modes and playlists.
Hopefully we see it again at some stage. Maybe even as duos.
And these low popularity modes would still work if we had a match composer of some sort. That way those who want to play it can come together if the stars align - but drift off to other modes if nobody else is around.
They shouldnt need to swap anything out., it’s just a list
And how would you know lol? We don’t have population #s. Back when lss was still here - I could find games faster there than in swat, anything in ranked, or fiesta. If I go by queue time, ranked arena kb/m is longest search, then controller, then crossplay. Everything in social has lower queue time.
If they remove anything, it should be quickly play. We have social team slayer and the casuals have spoken about not liking objective 834283 times before since the beginning of halo.
It wasn’t at first (unless you had them) But overtime, playing that mode daily, you learned how to deal with both much more efficiently. I would start seeing camo players way easier, and had methods for dealing with over shield players as well. So it was never unbalanced. I don’t mind the latest way either. It would just kinda suck to get a radar drop in the final circle haha. Thanks a lot!!!
That low population thing was just an excuse. Makes zero sense in a FFA mode. Could start the game with 2 people and it would be just as fair.
But, like you, I never had to wait more than a minute to get into a full lobby. Which is another reason I know the low population thing was a non-issue.
343 finally got my respect. For trying something new. VERY VERY brave. I APPRECIATED IT SO MUCH.
Now, it’s gone… are you kidding me? THE POTENTIAL IT HAD… gone too soon. Gave up on it too soon. DON’t BELIEVE THE NUMBERS SO MUCH… over so LITTLE TIME!!
Yeah, no one ever had to wait longer than a minute to get into a full 12 player lobby. I’ve waited way longer in other playlists. I’m certain the population numbers it had is NOT the reason it was removed, only a lame excuse.
Damn, videogames these days… Just a little more than a decade ago we weren’t afraid of videogames being a volatile mess. Hey, here’s the fuel rod… oops, guess we’ll have to remove it a few months later… here’s LSS… oops, guess we’ll have to remove it a few months later… here’s this and that - hope you’ll like them features BUT we may remove anything at any point in time. No assurance that what you’ll invest your money and time in, will remain the same good recipe.
