Bring back Kazuma Jinnouchi...ALONE

Frankly, I think he did the best work for the whole soundtrack. I think he should solo compose the music for Halo 5. He did a very good job making the music sound similar to the style of Martin O’Donnell, specially on the end credits (Never Forget - Midnight Version).

I think he fits the bill perfectly. No hate to Neil Davidge intended. I’m just not used to his style.

If not, just give us back Marty, K?

Marty sailed ship with Bungie, so I doubt they’ll be able to reel him back in.

Kazuma is good though, much better than Davidge.

pls no

> pls no

Uhm, what exactly do you mean by this?

I don’t wan’t to loose tracks like Solace and Green and Blue for Kazuma’s (IMO) inferior tracks.

I like both, but I thought neil wasn’t coming back to Halo anymore. Didn’t he said that on his FB page? I’m not sure if that is true though.

No, get rid of Neil and bring back Kazuma and Salta, the guy who did Spartan Assault.

If all of them can capture the theme and style of the game like several spots in Halo 4, (except… in even more places), they should all stay.

I liked some of both Neil’s and Kazuma’s work. Listening to the Halo 4 soundtrack(s) by themselves were wonderful.

They tried a more cinematic approach for Halo, and I think the music was made very well to fit that objective and some spots in the game. However, it didn’t quite feel as… seamless as some parts of Halo 3 did IMO.

Great tracks for both games, but it seems like Halo 3 incorporated them a little better, to the point where it made many scenes very memorable.
Farthest Outpost upon arriving at the Ark. Heroes Also Fall during Miranda’s Death, Halo Reborn upon heading to the replacement Alpha Halo.

Halo 4 had some good spots too, notably in Midnight with 117 and Arrival.

But I almost feel like some of the better parts of tracks were left out during scenes, just the quiet intro parts. Like the Didact’s Cometh. Revival is one of my favorite tracks, and we just here the very beginning quietly in the background. If anything, turn the volume up. Its an important spot for dialogue, but what better way to immerse yourself into the cutscene and evil of this character than the revival theme chanting in your ears? Even better, make it slightly louder and work the primary and biggest chants in there.

Let Neil and whoever work closely with the game, to better capture the style and purpose, so they can better adapt tracks to really fit there perfectly.

As much as I hate to say this, I don’t want Neil to return.

It’s not because his music isn’t “Halo”, it’s because he is too far from 343i to effectively capture the mood of the game.

As a composer of music myself, I can tell you one thing about effectively scoring something:

You must not only understand the theme that you’re capturing, but you must also become it yourself.

While as great as Neil’s music is, he doesn’t have the ability to truly connect with Halo’s theme. You have to surround yourself with the concept, and you have to interact with it every day. Neil composes his music in the UK, but 343i is situated in Kirkland, Washington.

There’s almost an entire hemisphere between Neil and 343i, and it will continue to block his capabilities of capturing Halo 5’s theme. And it’s not like Neil will spend the duration of Halo 5’s development in the US, that’s a few years away from doing the score for other productions.

Now, with all of that being said, I believe that Kazuma Jinnouchi and Tom Salta should be the lead composers for Halo 5. Not only is Kazuma a 343i employee, but his music (IMO) is overall better than Neil’s. In fact, 117 and Sacrifice are easily among my favorite Halo songs ever.

Tom Salta rearranged the score of Halo: Combat Evolved for Halo: Anniversary, and because of that prolonged exposure to Halo CE’s music, the Spartan Assault Soundtrack was almost perfect in capturing the “Classic” feel of Halo’s Soundtrack.

used neil and martys halo soundtracks on comics to read.

Do we have to have the same music all the time ? i kinda digged the cinematic tone of the soundtrack not a fan of the dubstep remixes tho.

I liked them first but got really boring to listen at fast x)

How about daisuke Isshiwatari? He does awesome music for Blaz Blue.

I like this idea.

My dream is for Daft Punk to do the score.

I would not mind seeing what Cliff Martinez could do also…

Playing Halo 3 as part of Games with Gold has been a treat. The music everywhere, campaign especially, was just phenomenal - I had forgotten just how much it stands out.

I’m afraid nothing since has come close. I don’t mean to knock the work of the Halo 4 musicians, but they are some impossibly big shoes to fill.

To whomever gets the reins for Halo 5… I’d like them to bring back more of that big, bold, driving orchestral sound. The more textural sound just doesn’t pop or fit the Halo campaign style, IMHO.

Oh, and bring back the soaring Gregorian chants. The Battlestar Galacticaa-style female vocals in Halo 4 were a nice change of pace, but they could have been even better if they weren’t restrained so much. Gotta let those vocal chords fly…
