My birthday will be on May 11 I was wondering if some high up 343 official can give me my birthday wish since halo MCC came out. I want 343 to reopen the original Xbox servers for halo 2. I know if you did it would be special for many fans of the halo franchise, and it would mean a lot for me even if it was just up for a week. If you are a true halo fan I don’t know why you wouldn’t want this to become a reality.

Sorry OP, but Halo 2 for the Xbox ran on on the original Xbox Live servers which were decomissioned a few years ago. It’s not possible to get these back up and running again.
If only this dream could become a reality. 
Microsoft still has the servers but they are shut down all Microsoft has to do is turn them on and optimize them for internet speeds now then we have halo 2 on the original xbox
How do you know they still have them?
MCC is fun, but it’s still not the same as the original game. I love the opening menu and just how everything feels on the original Xbox console. It would be nice, but it would be completely far fetched, especially since it would take the low population already on MCC.

He’s right. The only way you could play Halo 2 on original Xbox after the servers were shut down was via XBC (XBConnect) which basically enabled the System Link feature as a backup Xbox Live. They have since shut down but they have an active Facebook page where they are currently looking to see if there’s enough interest to get things fired up again.

They won’t store them indefinitely, yes they will be kept for a certain amount of time but even storage of them has costs associated. It’s very likely by now that they have either been donated to a good cause, scrapped or re-purposed for other things if possible.
Any true halo player knows h2 was the best online multiplayer of all time and no halo has ever even competed with it

It wasn’t the best but it was the greatest. I say it’s not the best only because of the overwhelming number of modders/cheaters in matchmaking. It was nearly impossible to get passed a 34 LEGITIMATELY because so many people were relying on modders to reach 50
Sorry i dont think 343 will do this, however there are plenty of 3rd party programs that allow you to link your xbox original or 360(other systems from psp, ps3 and wii also)
to your pc through the port on the back, thus allowing you to create servers or join other peoples servers like if you were playing on PC, I’ve seen quite a few servers lately where republic commando and darkwatch have been hosted, halo 2 and combat evolved are always hosted.

I need some Halo 2 multiplayer in my life. My favorite gaming memory. I wish MCC wasn’t so halo 3 centered.

If I had an Xbox One, I would see the MCC as perfectly fine for playing Halo 2. Now, I get that you are talking about opening the servers, which is closely tied to multiplayer. But, as I have a 360 still, I suppose that opening the servers again would make it so that my achievements in the game can actually mean something on my Waypoint account. Silly, i know, but it is annoying how my account tells me that I have never played H2. I just wish that it could have at least been rereleased on the 360 so that I can play it there and not worry about losing my progress (there is a weird thing with some original Xbox games where my hard drive won’t always keep the save files of those. I’ve had to restart Knights of the Old Republic a few times due to magically disappearing data).

Lolwut. It’s the exact opposite of that.
You can still play H2 online on the original Xbox by using some Multiplayer programs on your PC and by plugging in the Ethernet cable from your PC to your Xbox and searching for System LINK games.
