This is obviously self-explanatory , but within Halo:Infinite , I think that ranks should work just like they do in Halo:Reach . Instead of SR, Infinite should include titles similar to those in Reach upon leveling up eg ‘Inheritor’ . I do also think that there should be more ranks,as though this may seem counter-intuative, more ranks would equal less people with the higher ranks(so more of an incentive to get highest rank), and would lengthen out the game’s ‘life’ . The rewards for each rank should be much different from Halo 5’s , as SR 152’s rewards weren’t very good and therefore not many people cared to grind for SR 152 . I’m not sure about the inclusion of CR as a way to unlock armour, like in Reach, but it seemed to have worked very well - there should be an in-depth armour customisation , including extremely difficult-to-unlock armour sets for those of us who like a challenge - e.g. Laso armour , co-op laso armour , laso speedrun , miscellaneous achievement armour etc - there should be legacy rewards in Halo:Infinite from playing/completing other Halo games such as Halo 5, or Halo wars 1/2 , or each Halo game in the MCC.
I like this a lot… symbols as ranks instead of numbers are much more pleasing to achieve/ see!
I miss Reach ranks so much. When you saw someone had a high rank you knew that 9 times outta 10 they were really good.
I too wish to see a return of symbols instead of numbers.
I wouldn’t mind named/symbols for the overall progression system in the fashion Reach did it, but I don’t want them to do away with the dedicated ranked playlists and ranks like Reach did. Let them co-exist like Halo 5 has it set up, but do away with those SR numbers and revert back to cooler rank names.

Not necessarily true. I played against Inheritors constantly who looked as if they were playing with their feet in 4v4 Slayer matches. The ranks in Reach were just based on how much time you put into the game, but it’s not a solid guarantee that those who put in the time actually improve, especially with the way CR was awarded. People used to just farm objective game modes like Oddball and KOTH on Multi-Team and go solely for kills on people trying to play the objective. Nobody liked it, but how can I blame them when the system gives you more CR for the amount of kills you have at the end of the game?

OP, I really like a lot of what you bring up here. I would definitely be in favor of all of the following:
- Both an amount played rank (ie. using Reach-style ranks such as Inheritor, General, Captain) and a skill rank (similar to Halo MCC). - Credits earned through playing the game. This includes campaign, firefight, custom games, multiplayer, commendations, and forge. These credits should not be related to microtransactions. These credits can be used to buy armor. - Some armor sets should be tied to commendations and certain challenges (as OP mentioned). - Armor sets should be attractive but unique to each other to make grinding for them all the more worthwhile. We should be able to know what we are buying like Halo: Reach. No randomized packs. - Meaningful awards for ranking up.
I’m not big on the competitive aspect of Halo, but I think the Reach system was a lot more aesthetic than the current.
If they’re bringing back Reach-style customization, why not? I like it better than the current ranking system
Symbol as RANKS is great idea…i love the one of halo 3 art style but i prefer also the 1-50 ranks ranked with EXP like in Halo 3, social playlists will have a meaning too and no seasons for ranks…
I’d rather not have military ranks because its always silly to think about two teams of Chief Field Marshal First Class of the Marines duking it out. I would like mysterious names that make discovering the higher ups interesting.
