Bring Back Flag Dropping in Customs! (Vote)

If you have voted no, please elaborate in the comments

The message is simple. We need to bring back flag dropping and an option to turn of auto-pickup for Halo 4 customs (at the very least), and for that purpose, I’ve made this thread. Vote to bring it back (or not) and I’m sure if we get enough positive votes, 343 will be made aware of the overwhelming positive support for flag dropping/juggling in customs.
So, Waypoint, do you think they should bring back flag dropping in customs? Comment and dicuss below!

AND DON’T FORGET TO COMMENT TO KEEP THIS THREAD ALIVE

Note: This is not a petition (although it may seem that way considering the one-sidedness of the votes). It is a vote, and if it gets enough positive feedback 343 will be made aware of it. A petition is when there is only one option and it is not conducive to discussion.

Quotes from the Community

ā€œMore than anything, this needs to at least be customizable. We were told thatā€¦ā€
ā€œThe more options the betterā€
ā€œI second this, I don’t think the community as a whole is happy with this decision.ā€
ā€œHeck, they should bring it back online too.ā€
ā€œOf course yes, how could you vote no?ā€
ā€œthe flag should be able to be dropped by default on… custom gamesā€
ā€œThe ability to drop the flag is very important in the halo sandboxā€
ā€œAs much as i’m exited to see how this new flag version plays out i’d still like the possibility of playing regular flag too.ā€
ā€œDefinitely voted yes… many more strategies can be built upon that than being locked into the flag.ā€
ā€œI voted ā€œyesā€ although I do prefer the way it is now where you can’t drop the flag.ā€
ā€œFlag drop as a custom option is a must. It’s not even linked with CTF only but with Minigames and CTF variants too.ā€
ā€œI’d love the option to drop the flag to return! Classic CTF is important, no matter how much better/worse the new way is.ā€
ā€œI’m actually glad for the changes to CTF… However, you asked if it should be allowed in Custom Games. Of course I’ll say yes. Classic CTF will be impossible without it, and it would just be crazy not to include it just as a possibility.ā€
ā€œI’m happy that 343i are evolving the game as a whole, but… it at least needs to be an option… if it doesn’t work outā€
ā€œPlease, please, please, give a ā€˜classic’ option to those who want itā€
ā€œYeah, why not?.. Some people just want to play old-school flag. Adding this option in is a way to do that.ā€
ā€œit needs - at the very least - to be made an option in Custom Gamesā€
ā€œYES YES YESā€
ā€œOnly blind fanboys would be against more customizationā€
ā€œYou have my vote. Love flag dropping.ā€

3 votes and no comments! Come on guys!

Petitions aren’t allowed, although it is a bit stupid that you can’t drop it and it’s auto pick up.

Why not? It’s not as if it’s affecting matchmaking. You got my vote! (Allow petitions are not allowed, I do agree with you.)

> Petitions aren’t allowed, although it is a bit stupid that you can’t drop it and it’s auto pick up.

This isn’t a petition, it’s a vote. I’ll simply make 343 aware of this thread if the option gets enough support

The Classic Playlists will need this.

As well as any competitive playlists.

More than anything, this needs to at least be customizable. We were told that…

ā€œHalo 4 will be the most customizable Halo experience ever.ā€

ā€œNo. You can’t drop the flag. EVAR.ā€

It is beyond ridiculous. Let alone the apparent notion that this ā€œsticky flagā€ nonsense will be global, across all of Multiplayer, meaning we don’t even get to play CTF the way we used to in any of the rumoured ā€œClassicā€ playlists.

smh

The more options the better.

Pretty much this.

I am going to do a "community quotes segment with community messages of support. And remember guys, keep posting!

I thought I’d move my thread over here, since this one seems to be getting the most exposure.

I really shouldn’t have to go into detail as to why flag-dropping adds depth to the game, but I comprised a short list explaining the details.

- No longer the ability to flag juggle.
No longer the choice between flag juggling or not flag juggling.
No longer the option between shooting or moving the flag.
No longer the tactic of passing the flag up a level. (Imagine Countdown bottom -> Flag level)
No longer the ability to co-ordinate a pass of the flag to someone more suited to running the flag.
No longer the ability to bait nades with the flag
Enforcing a single and mind-bogglingly basic strategy of "Protect one flag carrier through the flag route"
Since all caps must now be committed to, no longer the option of any non-committal flag tactics (eg. throwing the flag out of the base to prevent their cap)
Creativity lost in terms of ways to capture the flag.

As you can see, flag-dropping added creativity in CTF, as well as depth of strategy. Removing flag-dropping doesn’t enable any new strategies either, since all of these would have been possible with flag-dropping aswell.

Even if you are adamant at 343 that removing a perfectly function mechanic from the game, then so be it.

But we need an option to put it back in.

You said a while back that all of the new features would be customizable in the options menu, so you would be straight out lying if this were not able to be disabled.

Anyone who voted ā€œNOā€ could you please elaborate on your reasons?

Heck, they should bring it back online too.

I second this, I don’t think the community as a whole is happy with this decision.

Also post if you think flag-dropping should be enabled in default gametypes aswell.

Literally, everything you said is true. Even if the option isn’t in MM, it absolutely irrevocably needs to be a customs option!
